Actually no. Not all turbos are ball bearing equipped. HRC uses Mitsubishi turbos which are equipped with the conventional thrust bearing. The Garret turbos come this way as well, but with the ceramic ball bearing option. Instead of a thrust bearing, it uses a ball bearing cartridge. Less friction, more durable, etc etc. And, to answer the question to "turbo system maintenance". You need to do some research, cause I dont have enough room here to explain it all. =o) Check the turbo section on the home page, as well as here. Might also wanna check out Corky Bell's book. Also, give Wyatt's page a look and HRC's page.

Now I'm curious. Is there a ball bearing rebuild kit for the Super 16G?

as far as I know, HRC can do special make to order ball bearing turbos for a little extra. Talk to Bill about it. he posted about it earlier in the turbo forum.
