I've had the Eclipse in storage for a couple months and just went to start it and no dice. You can hear the starter straining, but it just will not start. I've pulled out the spark plugs and there was alot of fuel in there, I then pulled the fuel pump fuse and tried to start it so I could clear out the fuel. But it would do the same thing. I then pulled out the starter from the tranny but kept the power on it and tried to start, I hear a whine, so that appears to be working. Any other ideas? It doesn't appear to be any sort of fuel problem if I have fuel in the plug area and i have pressure at the fuel pump rail nipple. Any other ideas? Thanks guys.

If your car has been in storage for that long the battery may not have the amps needed to start.
The 420A takes alot of amps to get it going. I use 12v 225 amps on a battery charger to start mine after an extended down time. Be careful with this amount of amperage though. Only connect the charger to the battery connectors and not an alternate grounding location for sensors. The amperage will pull through the ground and blow your sensors.
If you have time it is better to take the battery out and do a slow charge.

You said you pulled the starter off (but still electrically connected) and all you heard was a whine. You should easily see that the starter is turning. If its just a whine sounds like the starter/solenoid is bad Pull it and take it to autozone for their starter inspection.

Do you have a spark? Check the connections on the plug wires. Im crazy and get ppl to crank it while i shock myself trying to see the electricity arc between the wire and the coil-pack. I suggest not doing that...But ensure that you have spark some type of way. If the chamber fills with gas, i always suspect that it is not burning.
Get the battery checked (I got to wal-mart) Amps are important. Autozone checks starters, takes about 5 min. I recently had one that spun over and appeared to work, but bad bearing under load condition. I guess it didnt work.
Has gas and Good gas? its been in storage for a couple months.

Get new gas if it's old or depleated. You should probably put new gas in even if it's only 60 days old, because after 60 days it can start to break down. Did you use good storage techniques?
