ok a guy at work has a GS and is puting in a new motor and,he said for 150.00 i can have the old one, but the catch is it has a spun rod bering. how hard is it to replace a rod bearing? my motor has 150,000 miles so i am wanting to ither sell my whole car or rebuild this motor for cheep, but i am no mechanic i have never taken apart a car motor befor, so if you guy's could give me some tips and point me in the right direction on how to do this it would be graet!

for 150 id grab it
if the engine is already out then doing a bearing change is easy.
plus you dont have to worry about much downtime since you are rebuildign an engine outside the car you drive daily
so you can take your time and get the performance parts you want with no time crunches to worry about.

minimum for a spun bearing will be having the crank reground
then you can do a stock rebuild or a performance build depending on your goals

this kinda respons is why i love this site so much!

The neat thing is, if you're on a budget right now, you can order up a bunch of new stock stuff from Parts Dinosaur and build yourself a fresh stocker for cheap. Then you keep it wrapped up nice and tight in the garage until you have all your performance parts ready to go for the big time motor. At that point, you can swap in this zero mile stocker to get you around while you put the performance engine together. When you're done, keep the stocker as an emergency spare, or sell it for something like $500 with under 5,000 miles on it or something.

oh i will, i plan on picking up the motor this weekend, and a friend of mine get a nice discount at AGP if enyone has herd of them! so fo around $3000 or less i can fully build top and bottom end's,
my gole is to get it done by next spring, so that will give me plenty of time to get it done!
