Short answer, yes, your car is a DSM.

this is extactly what they said.

OK People Im getting mad!! Im whoring around some DSM forums trying to find info on the GSX's rear main leak and Im beginning to notice a very annoying trend. People's usernames are like VADSM and their car is a GS. A Grand Sport is NOT A DSM!!! Learn your shit!! If your car isnt pimping the 4g63 then DONT POST AS A DSM driver!

RAWR! That is like my biggest pet peeve EVER!!

and then i stated that my car was a dsm and they replied

It has nothing to do with first or second gen...you dont run the 4g63. You have a 420a. Diamond Star Motors only produced the 4g63

What the heck did you just say? during the time the 2g eclipse was produced Chrysler and Mitsubishi where kind of "toghether" and them TOGHETHER produced our cars. Tell who ever told you your car is NOT a DSM that they are a STUPID COCK SUCKING CHOAD, what they are saying is comparable to saying the old Ipods are not really Ipods because they where manufactured by HP.

People claiming to know their shit, when they realy dont know SHIT is MY pet peeve.

EDIT: Even by their terms I have a DSM as my car was manufactured june, 1994.

True True We're all family here. But if ANYONE wants to question whether one drives a DSM or not, its proven fact that the non turbo motor is based off the Chrysler 420...NOT the joint venture of Mitsubishi/Chrysler.

DSM 4g63=joint venture.
420a=Chrysler.

this is what they said next

All the Eclipses/Talons from the 90s are DSM's.

Even some of the Talon ESi's have the word DSM on the sticker with the engine info etc. in your engine bay.

Who really cares? We do have MOPAR engines, but that doesn't change the fact that ALL the 90s Eclipse/Talon trims are DSM's.

DSM 4g63=joint venture. 420a=Chrysler.

If i'm not mistaken, the 4g63 dates back quite a ways before the T/E/L's were produced. The 420a however, is a much more recent design. Chrysler probably didn't have much input on the 4g63, but Mitsubishi could've had some say in the 420a being as the companies were working together at the time. Either way, the 420a E/T's are DSM because the two companies decided to brand them as such, not because some jackass in a DSM forum said so!

4G63 engines do predate the mitsu/chrysler conglomeration known as DSM aka diamond star motors. anything built at the Normal Illinois factory between 89 and 98 with the Talon/Eclipse/Laser badging as well as the chrysler Sebring coupe and Dodge Avenger are all DSM's

True that, I hear this argument all the time and frankly, it's annoying as hell.

1990,1991,1992,1993,1994,1995,1996,1997,1998,1999 Eclipse RS/GS/GST/GSX, Talon ESi/TSi/TSi AWD, and Laser RS/RS-T/RS-T AWD are all DSM's. It doesn't matter what engine or drivetrain the car has, they were all built at the same plant.
