I've posted this on 2gnt and have gotten a lot of responses and help from there but also wanted to post here and ask if anyone has any additional input possibly.
Specs: 1997 Eclipse RS NT with a 420A @129,000mi
Issue: Smoking white from the exhaust with a slight blue tinge, which has caused the blue tinge to go away after doing everything listed below.
This is what I have done so far to troubleshoot:
Key Dance: code 12 and code 55 (no help there) Check Coolant: no oil, levels acceptable Check Oil: no coolant present, levels acceptable Replace All fluids flush radiator Replace O2 Sensors Check temperature: just below the middle when warmed up and driving. Compression test: within range from what I have been researching. No moisture from the exhaust after warmed up
What i haven't done yet: Have a mechanic run the cel codes to get any data that the ecu might be putting out while the car is running. Get the injectors cleaned.
Past those two things can you suggest anything else that I might be missing? I've asked around and read up and I am honestly baffled if it was the head gasket I'd get that replaced or do it myself with the help of someone but there's not enough signs pointing to that. So anyone have any suggestions?
I've checked and double checked everything aside from the compression test and can't figure it out. I'm going to poke around some more this weekend but was wondering if someone can push me in the right direction.

Valve seals may need to be replaced. My eclipse would smoke a little bit also and I figured that is what it was.

thanks that was a suggestion of someone locally too I just need to get it to pass emissions and it won't this way, then I can start fiddling with it. Is there a way to test for that? like doing a leakdown test?

that was one of the things I was afraid of and something that is rather frightening for me to do on my own. I guess I'm going to be taking it to a shop to have them do that. know round abouts how much that'd cost? I was quoted from one place a while back around $3k and at that price I could just buy a built engine :|

azdave has a couple extra heads lying around. You might drop him a PM on az2gnt and see if he might have one available for sale. Considering they're all stock, you could pull your head, swap things over to the "new" one, maybe have it milled for a new MLS HG (~$150 including the gasket), and go that route.
Reminds me... I was supposed to call Dave about a head a couple weekends ago. (sigh)
