just today i noticed my reverse lights wont work. the fuse is good. and so is every other fuse for that matter . i checked them all. my tail light wiring is still the same as all yours but i dunno. i probed the reverse switch and its showing 12v when its in reverse and i probed the fuse in the fuse box and both sides show 12V also. but i probe the red/blue stripe wire that is for reverse it shows no voltage at all. anywhere on the wire. one inch from the fuse box or all the way back.. the plug is in tight everywhere it needs to be but i jsut cant see why the fuse shows good but the wire shows no voltage. some water spilled behind the engine today when i was working in the rain but i doubt that has anything to do with it.

I am having he same problem with mine not working. I need to know what this switch looks like and exactly where it is on the transmission. Can anyone submit some pics?

if you'd search you'd find this is a common problem with lots of info. the sensor is on the top of the tranny on the driver's side. it's a brass bolt with a wiring harness coming out the top. it's a simple normally open switch. when the tranny is put in reverse the ball bearing is pushed upward and closes the switch. you should be checking for continuity NOT voltage.
unplug the harness and use a paper clip or wire to connect the two contacts on the wire harness. if the light comes on then your switch is bad. you can try cleaning it but if that doesn't fix it then stop by your local parts store to pickup a new one. DO NOT GO TO THE DEALER.

I like your style. Wish I could be of more help to you, but all I can tell you is that it's pretty much the only thing on the front/top side of the transmission with an electrical connector on it.
If you remove your air intake and shine a flaslight back under the battery, you should be able to spot it towards the front of the trans.
Don't sweat it, boss. DSM also stands for "Don't See Much (when backing up at night)." I haven't had reverse lights with any sort of consistency in two different cars in something like three years. You develop better night vision, imo.

Well. I think what i might do is hard wire a switch into my center console and put some appropriate fog lights in. I read about it during my search and i thought about how great it would be to see as good driving backwards as driving fowards at night. Not to mention the "f-u factor" for asshole tailgaters!
I already have a toggle switch laying around from one of my old cars. The small, blue oval fog lights i was looking at only cost about 20 bucks and i have enough wire to circle the world twice.....well not really but it seems like it. Should be a perfect fit.
I'll let everyone knows how it goes when i get around to it. Should be done by the end of summer!
I NEED reverse lights. Peice of mind. I dont want my ass knocked off pulling out of a parking space. I think fog lights would let everyone know what's going on! Teehee.

they help but it still won't matter if you have some stupid bitch speeding through a parking lot at 40+ mph, happened to me back when I had an Integra. the worst part of it all? even though she was over double the posted parking lot limit (15mph) I was in reverse, I got hosed. bumper cover was half hanging off and looked like a crazed canopener got it.
I do like the idea of flashing some idiot if they're tailgaiting you. I used to keep my camera in the car when I was big into photography and I knew how to "test" the flash. at night if someone was following way too close I'd hang the flash out the window and let it rip! people backed off REAL quick.

Search on here for a pic. But you might not have to replace the switch. You will however need to go get a really deep, wide socket to be able to pull it out. Once you take the switch out it has a silver ball on the tip that gets stuck after a few years. All I did was push the ball in a few times and then re-installed the switch and my reverse lights have worked ever since.

for the record, every single transaxle I have ever purchased (and I've been through quite a few) had both a dead speed sensor and a dead reverse light switch. Even checking the sensor with a multimeter removed from the housing i could not get continuity through it while depressing the ball. It's a $15 part, if it fails, replace it.
23024 is the reverse light switch. There's no part number returned... i guess I should fix that.

Word. I went to advanced and they can get me one for $11.50 shipped so i'll go that route i guess. Less work...for now. If it doesn't work after the switch is fixed, that means something is fucked in my tranny....which wouldn't surprize me since my car has a habbit of not wanting to shift sometimes.....Cluch dissengages, it's just the stick doesn't want to move to where it should be sometimes. Linkage is fine.
I'm hoping it just needs new gear oil/fluid and it'll shift better. If i have bent levers/forks, that's going to suck.
Now, back to the topic itself. I hope i have a deep socket that will fit. I hope I have an extention long enough and a elbow for said socket too. I'll check back after i get some sleep and actually have everything out infront of me. Had to run all over the damn place just to find a grade 8 nut for my transmission mount bolt. Grrrrrrr.

Any 22mm deep socket will fir the switch. Now, having the extensions and swivel or pivot heads for them so that you can actually remove it is another thing. It's in an awkward location.
FYI, most of us in the know also fill the T350 through the reverse switch hole because4 its easier to get to.

Ofcourse that's where i'll be putting my tranny fluid in. I haven't gone to the stealership to get it yet. Soon. My car shifts like crap. Getting around to bleeding my clutch would um...well deal with alot of that. Bastard just wants to stay in neutral sometimes....with the clutch to the floor.
