A beat up stock engine with a blown vc gasket, possible blown head gasket....as my coolant isn't looking too clean. We'll see how things go after i do a compression test and see how much money i need to spend! If i pull the motor, i'm waiting on pistons and rods before i put her back together.
Right now, the only upgrade i have is my shoddy but working cold air intake. Just clipped the stock intake tube, added a bit of a skunk2 intake to the bottom, connected the two peices with a silicone coupler/hose clamps and voila..... I got everything to do it for free minus the filter which was 25ish?
I plan to either:
A) build the bottom end with .020 over 10.5:1 cr je pistons with eagle rods
B) Buy another shortblock, sleeve it and put a 2.2L stroker kit in it with the same compresson listed above.
C) Buy a sbr/howell shortblock ready to slap a head on and roll with it.
I want to have a 3 angle valve job done, arp head studs, portmatching, pt lifters and rockers, crower springs and retainers w/ferra valves. Adj. cam gears will make their way in there with some nasty cams when i have everything for the turbo. Most of this i'm confident i can do on my own....minus the valve job. I'll leave that to the pros.
Fuel system is getting a workover with a walbro 255 and s-afc. Missing link. Vortec smfu. Possible aftermarket fuel rail....
EGR removal.
Most likely a 16g (ported w/flapper upgrade internally gated) will make it's way under my hood with a custom short tube manifold built by me. 16g turbos are relatively inexpensive, spool quick and make big power so why not? Everything else is a random FMIC from this site i found for 200 bucks, Custom ic pipes, custom dp, ported tb, dual stage b/c, HKS SSQ bov.....bigger injectors. I want my dump pipe routed into the downpipe and i want my bov recirculated back into the intake track to quiet things down a little. I'm doing my homework and taking notes. I could have in by late next year or mid 2009 depending on me busting ass and making the loot to get it done faster. It's damn sure going to take a while to find the time to put in the fab work. All part of the fun though.
Fidanza axles, act 2,600lb pressure plate with stock disk and fidanza flywheel. Phantom grip lsd.
That's about it. If it was a honda, it'd be done already but i've messed with hondas long enough. It's not unique to have a 200whp all motor eg hatch with a LS/vtec swap that runs in the 12's. We've all seen it before.
