I'm installing a new radiator in my 99 GS with manual trans. I ordered a brand new one from ebay and it said that it fit either automatic or manual cars. I received it yesterday and on the radiator itself it has the two "ports" for the A/T oil cooler hoses. Other than that it looks the same as my old one.
My question is what do I do with those two ports since my M/T doesn't use them? Did they send me the wrong radiator? If they did is there something I can use to close off the ports?
Coolant comes out of those ports right? Or does the A/T oil just flow through the ports where it is cooled next to the coolant?

Thanks for the quick reply Nightfall. Thats kind of what I thought after thinking about it for a while. So A/T oil just flows through those ports not coolant.

This has been discussed before. Since oil is under pressure, the cooler needs to be designed to withstand it. Also, since the cooler is designed for cooling tranny fluid, it may not translate to cooling motor oil effectivly. It could be done, just may be easier to buy an oil cooler and install that.

A/T fluid is under pressure too... quite a bit of pressure, so I'm sure the tranny fluid cooler could withstand standard oil pressures. But, like you hinted at, the small cross-sectional area combined with a small total surface area makes integrated A/T fluid coolers poor oil coolers.
