Hey everyone, long time no post. Anyways I've had a CEL for a while for an Evap leak, and now I finally have to fix it to pass emissions. The code was for a gross evap leak, and yeah its a large one. I hooked up a smoke machine to the fuel system and found smoke to be pouring out at will from the hose circled in red in the image below.

Now on that diagram, it shows the hose connects to nothing, which is how I find it under my car. This leads me to believe that the cause of the leak may be the valve circled in green, But it seems CAPS doesn't have that part in it yet, so I'm not quite sure what it is. I'm guessing its the Evap purge valve but I want to make sure. If anyone with knowledge of the system could help me out with what that is and if that is probably the cause I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks a lot

I dont have a 99 but I would expect either a plug in that hose OR that the hose is a vent and the valve as you stated is bad. If you turbo'ed your car then the reverse pressure is what damaged it I expect. Send Grain a PM and ask him if he can check his 99 to get you an idea if the hose should be plugged or whatever.

Ok, thanks Terry. As you know I was turbo before when this CEL first showed. I'll send him a PM and see if he can help me.

Anyone else with a 99 that knows the answer please feel free to chime in.
Thanks

Ok, thank you. I went to the Dealer yesterday and talk to the parts guy and showed him on the CAPS page where the leak was coming from. He brought in like 2 or 3 of the techs and after they looked at it they told me it was either that valve I circled, which is an evap check valve, or the LDP solenoid. The first valve is $21 and the LDP thing was $229, so lets pray its the first valve. We'll see what happens. I think I'm going to go over to autozone and get my codes read again to see if what it says will give me any insight on which part is the problem. I'll probably end up replacing the check valve first and see if it fixes it, then figure it out from there. Thanks for the help guys.

Keep us updated as to whether or not this fixes your problem. I have the same code and haven't been able to figure it out...
