Time to repalce my stock battery it has 70k and its winter here in Boston Mass. I want to get a optima red top and gave pepboys a call and they gave me a price of $119 I didnt ask him at the time but that is the price of the 850/6v battery is that the one I want or would it be better to have the 800S or 800U? thet are both 12v. I will be having my 600watt amp and sub installed on wednesday I know a yelow top would be better but it gets damn cold around here! How good are the yellow tops for starting in the cold? I also have an alarm and aftermarket fogs hooked up to the battery..let me know what would be the best battery to buy for my ride. L8er

Well i have personally owned both red and yellow top batts. The red top is a good deep cycle battery, but the yellow top is more centered to audio set ups. Its damn cold here, and the yellow top is excellent!!! Never a dead batt, starts right up. The deep cycle batter will also help with dimming headlights and such because the battery can discharce at a much faster rate than a regualar car battery. It will help get rid of alternator whine also, because batterys are a natural noise filter. I think either battery will work for you, but if you plan on adding more amps and such, go with the yellow top! I have the smaller of the 2 versions out too, not sure but i think 800cca maybe? There's only 2 anyway.
