#117843, "SFMU Adapter assembly question..."

Hey guys I just got my Vortech SFMU and bought the adapter assembly with it to adapt to my -4 AN SS fuel line. My question is... After the installation of the adapter assembly I am trying to tighten down the AN adapters onto the "extension" hardware that comes with the assembly... Is there a reason why the adapters only screw in about 3/4 of the way into the "extension" pieces? I got them that far and they absolutely REFUSE to get any tighter. I have read around that fuel fittings do that from time to time and just tighten them as much as you can and let them be. Anyone here experience this with fuel fittings? Should I put some teflon paste onto the connections to help it seal better or is it unnecessary, and that that is just as tight as they go?

I would like to know if it is necessary to buy the actual adaptor assembly kit for nearly 50 bucks?

what are you adapting?
you trying to put the -4 on the fuel rail?
or
putting the -4 line from the rail to the -6 inlets that are on the SFMU?

AN fittings do not require to be tightened down all the way to make a seal. Don't overtighten them as you could break them (I have once).

exactly what totaleclipse said!

according to Aeroquips manual, AN fittings are sealed at "finger tight + 1/4 turn" this applies to all sizes of Aluminium AN fittings, and do not use any type of teflon on the fittings (tape or otherwise)
