#11715, "Most I can get from a 2GNT NA with these mod's?"

First I'd like to say "What up people?"

I'm new to this forum, but I've been part of Clubdsm for a while.

I know this has probably been asked a million time's, but I'm wondering what's the most overall HP you can get from a 2G Eclipse with all NA mod's done. I'm considering adding in a Hahn turbo, but if I can get up to a reasonable HP using bolt-on's, I might take that route instead. Here's the list of mod's I'd consider:

Header's
Catback
Underdrive Pulley
Cold air intake
Upgraded Fuel Pump, and injector's
Upgraded Ignition system
Magnecor Sparkplug Wire's
Apexi S-AFC
Some other type of cpu mod to take off the speed limiter

Anything else I missed, anyone can just add on with comment's. If this list doesn't add enough HP for the price, then I'll probably just continue saving for the Hahn turbo.

Current Mods:
- Weapon-R Intake w/Hyper Foam Filter (Red)
- Weapon-R Breather Filter (Red)
- Tenzo-R Muffler
- Extreme Motorsports Strut
Tower bar
- Symborski Shifter Bushing Kit
- Stock Shortened Shifter
- Momo "King"-style Aluminum Shifter Knob

Save for the turbo. Thats almost 2 grand for 25 hp tops where if you went turbo you get twice as much power for about the price of stage 1.

I'm at about 61000 mile's now. If I get the turbo upgrade, is it very damaging to the engine, or will the 420A hold out good with them. I race occasionally, but it's mostly a street use car. Also, what do you guy's think about Nitrous?

Well then, welcome to the Party my Friend.

I am going to tell you what most everybody else is going to tell you. The best "Bang for Your Buck" is a turbo upgrade. Your going to get the most Horsepower for your money. You'll need alot of money to get the same amount of power from an NA set up then you would a turbo. You should do a search as this subject has popped up many times. But again WELCOME.

no more 420A

only 4G63

1st of all..WELCOME......

>Header's: if you want to go turbo then dont buy headers since they will do you no good when insalling the turbo. The have very little HP gains.

>Catback: good

>Underdrive Pulley: good

>Cold air intake: good

>Upgraded Fuel Pump, and injector's: no use if not spraying or boosting

>Upgraded Ignition system: good

>Magnecor Sparkplug Wire's: good

>Apexi S-AFC: good when boosting

>Some other type of cpu mod to take off the speed limiter: good

I miss you mom, you are always with me RIP...

Well, the header and cold air intake would be upgrade's to the Weapon-R I already own, but I was just saying that if they would produce a good overall HP upgrade without going turbo I'd do that instead. I'm probably going to just get the Hahn, and the rest of the upgrade's in the list since that seem's to be the best way to go. Do you guy's know if getting the turbo upgrade is damaging to our engine's or not?

Not as long as you don't get too boost crazy and/or run too lean.

The turbo is not going to damage your engine as long as you treat the car correctly with a turbo on it. Don't boost beyond what your setup can handle. The Stage 1 and 2 kits are designed to work with a stock engine. As long as you have good compression numbers when you run a compression test and don't lose a bunch of oil I say go for it. All motor CAN be done with our cars but is not cost efficient like turbo is, comparatively speaking.

Thanks for the help guy's. Tax return season's almost hear, so I think I'll go with Stage 1 Hahn Turbo kit, and then add the intercooler later. Did any of you install your own turbo kit's, or did you guy's have them professionally done? I have a friend who is a mechanic that could probably do most of the work, but if there's any ecu stuff involved, I'm going to have to take it to Extreme Motorsport's around the Maryland area. They said it is $1100 to install the Hahn.

The best bang for the buck is by far nitrous but a turbo is a distant 2nd considering a million bolt ons will never equal the same power levels.

Don't forget the little things, switch to a synthetic oil, less friction for HP, when you add the turbo switch to the Denso Iridium plugs and go colder, still more HP. Learn the turbo also, don't go out and start it up on a cold day and take off, let it warm up to save the engine, and then let it cool down. Have fun.

i'm getting a stage 1 turbo on my car soon. (my current mods are below) but i'm having trouble figuring out what is the next thing to do after. should i go with: 2.5 cat back, s-afc, intercooler? how necessary is an s-afc on a stage 1 set up with stock internals? so far i figure to go with a cat back and a used intercooler ( from reading here it looks like you can run @ 7psi of boost with just cat back) anyone know about how much boost you could run with a 2.5 cat back and a used intercooler?

thanks

mods:
gst exhaust, iceman intake, af/x udp, accell wires, ngk bkre511
soon: af/x tb
