Hey everybody, as the subject implies my e-brake is stuck on, on the rear passenger side wheel. All other wheels turn freely. I made the mistake of leaving the e-brake on while the car sat for a few months and now I cannot for the life of me get it unstuck.
I've tried rocking the car back and forth going from 1st gear to reverse, that does not work. I've made a small (3") incision on the top of the cable (it is coated with 2 layers of rubber) and sprayed WD-40 as well as some Penetrating Oil in there. After I let it soak I've pulled up and down on the lever, rinse, repeat. This doesn't work. I've also tried attaching the vice grips to the part on the cable closest to the vacuum plater and then banging the vice grips with a hammer to see if I could somehow loosen the brake,to no avail.
Has anyone dealt with this problem before and found a simple fix to it? I'd rather not cut the cable and run a new one when there is most likely an easier fix. Any tips/comments are appreciated, and thanks in advance!

I had a very similar thing happen in my old Escort. It is most likely in the drum itself. Take the wheel and drum off and clean everything up. If it is like mine was it will be all kind of gummed up and black and dirty. I used some varsol and got everything nice and clean and after that everything worked the way it should.

+1 our e-brakes are on the inside of the rear rotor. take the wheel off then the rear caliper then remove the rotor itself (M8 bolts may be required to remove the rotor if its stuck)
you should then see the inner brake assembly and be able to remove the block and get it going again.

that's probably his issue though - if it's stuck on he won't be able to get it off.... BCM, what model do you have? RS have rear drum, GS have rear disc, with e-brake on the inside as mentioned above.
