I always seem to. Whether it be wheels, dress up, sound system stuff.....something breaks.
I put an amp under my seat for my highs. Those blew shortly after. Brand spankin' new 6.5's dead.... I put in two 12" powerbass subs and switched the amp over. It was doing great. Just fabulous. Sure enough i break something else less than a week later.
I hopped my wheels 3 times a couple nights ago doing an "I'm really pissed off" burnout. It was justified, trust me. I felt the left axle break on the third hop and had to limp my car home at 35 mph. The shit i put up with to date the girl i'm dating is unreal. She was kind enough to follow me home to make sure i didn't break down. I didn't know she was following me. I thought i had somebody trying to be an ass riding my bumper. A couple steering wheel punches and clutch rides later and i'm home.....bitching a fucking fit because i broke my car and my gf's dad is a fucking dickhead and how my car is a piece of shit that i hate but love at the same time...... It sucked.
Well, the car is on jackstands now. I'm awaiting a new axle to arrive tomorrow and i figured i'd replace my outer tie rods too since they're shot. I couldn't get the old ones out just yet but i'll try corbin's methods on his write-up. I hope i get my car up soon.
I'm happy that nobody got physically hurt and i didn't throw a rod like i first thought.
I'd rather not guess on what's going to break next.
Anybody else have this problem?

Hmmm...where to start. My son saw a 97 RS with a blown clutch and just had to have it. No problem. We put the clutch in and then he added a nice stereo. Within a week the engine threw 2 rods through the block. No problem. We bought a parts car for the engine, swapped it into his and it wouldn't start. Turns out the parts engine had a bad head (camshaft timing gear pin sheared and basically trashed the rest of the engine). Rebuilt the head, then the block. Finally got it back to find that the engine was leaking oil. Back to the shop that failed to use the anaerobic sealant on the bed plate. In the process of redoing that, shop noticed the transmission was making noise they thought was the input shaft bearing. It wasn't. Ended up getting a used transmission. Car is back now and doing well I have lots of parts for it as Christmas gifts including new tires, rotors, brake pads, shifter, intake, etc. Care to bet on what will go wrong next? My bet is axles, tie rods, ball joints, etc. basically entire suspension, but who knows. Hope you have better luck.

I have had experiences like that my flywheel became loose where it holds clutch on some how the holes like stretched its hard to explain get a new flywheel put it in works great 3 days later clutch goes, put in new clutch couple days later end up sliding in snow and crack front bumper i was like great im going to stop driving for a bit bad thing is i was only going like 5 mph into work but whole parking lot was ice but its ok was just excuse to convert to 97-99 front end.

F-ing dsms are such a headache.
It was raining all day today and the sun started to shine at 3pm so i figured i'd get down and dirty.
I pulled the bolts out of the control arms and damper fork, pulled the knuckle out of the way, tapped the axle out and it fell to the ground. Upon inspection, i noticed the tripod/spider was in perfect shape. No bearing wear, no roller wear.....nothing. I figured i try to pry the rest of the axle out of the differential. It's stuck where the lateral control arm bolts to the frame. Dug in good too. Looks like i found out what the horrible knocking noise was during my coast home. The cup had dropped and sheared the boot all to hell on the frame mount!
Ofcourse, i knew what caused it. The tranny mount. I pop my battery tray out and sure nuff', the tranny mount is broken. Forged fucking aluminum ftw! Merry x-mas to me. Lol.
My question is, how in the fuck do you break a tranny mount doing a hard launch with only about 110-125 whp? Seriously.
On a side note, i have a front sway bar. Cute little thing. I bet it does nothing at all. Didn't think the rs came with them. Learn something new every time i crawl under this peice of shit.
Anyone else care to vent so i dont feel as bad?

Well... OK. I got ass raped on the price of mine 10 months ago, because i financed it. got it home, and the check engine light came on... i was like.. wtf... so i go out the next morning, drive it all day, finally, right before i pull into the place i got it from, the fucking light went off... i was mad... it has since never come on again (though it does when i first start the car, bulb isnt blown) but, after driving the car for a week... i notice this smell of oil... so i look under, and see it looks like the oil pan was hit with a boulder, and there is oil everywhere. so, i go to tighten it up, and the bolts were so loose, i could slide the pan up and down a lil. i fixed it, replaced all the oil... and thought all was good. Drove fine for a few months, but as soon as summer was over and it started getting cold, you start it, and it sounds like a damn diesel truck. i know its a spun bearing or something horrible. thankfully it didnt blow up before i was able to buy a new motor. but knowing my luck its going to seize up on me or something like 5 days before the new motor gets here, and the 'clipse is my DD. i'm just praying now i dont break the new stuff, and the old shit hold out untill the new stuff gets here.
** Current status: 9 bent valves. and it only had 6,000 miles on it. i hope the replacement goes well. **
Lots of expensive parts, and still slow! Oh wait, it has to run to go fast.

hehe lets see. I just got a GST with a blown engine. Pulled it out while we where inspecting it noticed the block and head was fine. It broke 2 flexplate bolts, and had a shot rear mount. Engine sounded like crap but it was ok. Already had a spare so we drop it in. We break all the Ac sensors putting it in, and the throttle cable.(thanks engine) Oh and we broke the tranny mating them. broke the bov (plastic sucks) thank god the tranny could be welded.
We had a parts car to steal from. The only reason im not too bitter about this build.
We will build you bigger and stronger

I found something new today. I posted a while back about my tranny mount bolt sticking halfway out of the insert when i bought the car.
I noticed i had a hairline crack in my rear mount.
I figured i'd swallow hard and look back there to see if it failed. Yep.
I'm not touching my car for a few days or i'm going to kill somebody. I still can't get the rest of the axle out of the differential. Stupid fucking c-clips are besting me.
I'll post back up if i find out anything else is broken.
I suppose after i get this shit sorted, i'll up my fuel system and boost the car. Fuck it. I want to kill it hard now. I've tasted blood. After the rs dies, it will rise from the ashes like a pheonix on meth. Maybe i'll see if the stock bottom end can push 12-14psi on 91 octane with a bottle of that booster shit as a fun and expensive experiment. Tax time is right around the corner. I keep saying i'm going to fix the car and sell it, but i wont. I've already sank too much money. I accept the fact it'll always be broken and i couldnt give it to anyone unless i really hated them.

If they're still kicking your ass, get the biggest crescent wrench you can find, open it as wide as it will go, and put it around the axle between the inner cv housing and the diff housing. Kick it. Remove that axle.
