#116689, "Question about a GST Muffler"

I might be buying a used GST Muffler to put on my GS and my question is there is no flange on the muffler I was told the GST Muffler would bolt right up to the GS Exhaust pipe. What would it take to get this muffler to work on my car?

Would they just cut my old muffler off and weld on the GST Muffler? If this is correct anyone know what the cost would be?

you answered your own question.

We do not know how much your local muffler shop will charge. I would not pay more than 40$ for somethign like this.

Dude, that thing does look like trash. Do you have a better pic of it? From what I see, the piping is hacked off.

I know everyone is like " toss it and get a new one" But I had one done, Sprayed it with black texture spray rustomleom first, Then Had Maxi Muffler weld it on. Then ofcourse I didnt have a tip like you so a Hondai Tuberon came in earlier that day and had a exhaust put on so I cut the chrome tip off the Turberon Gt Exhuast and welded it on mine, then grinded the welds and Sprayed Black texture rustoleum over the arean where the tip was welded. It turned out very well and I have not problem pushing 210 plus at 5 psi without getting a ticket and kicking my self in the long run. The only thin I would change is when they installed it I would make them weld a coupler flang inbetween the muffler and the cat back pipe so that I could unbolt it easily and Bolt on a higher flow fart cannon just for race track. I have pics of the Eagle Talon ESI mod Muffler FYI. Remember though eventually the GST muffler may not be enough, as it was only designed for 210 hp. If you exceed that number by more than 230 HP on average you are killing your HP and gas milage.

Personally I am going to Purchase a 2008 Eclipse Gt V6 muffler ( as they are good for 280+ HP without all the noise. I like how quite this one is but this week I am going to double boost ( 8-9 psi) and Dyno Tune. If you keep with OEM designed muflers you will keep sound down, stick with mufflers that are from Higher HP Stock cars. Also The new eclipse muffler works great on the 2gnt, you just turn it upside down! Yes the tip will be upside down but it can be rotated. You can buy the OEM muffler from the dealer for $250
