Hey, so i dont know if you guys can help? but it's kinda weird..
so my car, ever since i put the turbo in.. it heats up on occasion.. nothing too serious, (this when i'm parked on a slope or angle)i just notice that when i shut the car off.. it sits at the halfway mark then when i turn it back on the needle is way high.. not in the "danger" area lol.. but about 3/4 of the guage... and then it slowley goes back down to the half way mark..
and sometimes when i'm sitting at an intersection or something, the needle will start to climb a little bit above the half way mark.. and then when i start driving or not, it goes back down to the half way mark.
this is all just happening around the time i put the turbo in.. could have something to do with the heat off the exhaust or wastegate because the sensor is close by the exhaust? i dunno??
also, i do notice that the heat inside the car, isn't as hot as it use to be, maybe i'm just thinking that... but it sure takes a lot longer to warm the car up... (could be the blower fan tho)
from what i read, would this be a "burp" issue or a thermostat failing?? cap?? i did take the upper rad hose off when i did the install.. so i dont know if that has to do with anything??
oh and i did check the upper and lower hoses when the car was off.. not the best way, but i was driving the car around for a while, but the upper hose was hot, and the lower hose was cool.. so again, the car was off for a few minutes.. and i did check.. so it may not be the best way to check.. just thought i would throw that in there as well...

I had a similar issue with mine getting hot in intersections, so I just wired up both fans together, so they both turn on when the temp gets hot enough. I haven't had a problem since.

what are your oil temps doing in response to this? does a temp rise coraspond to the coolent temp rise?
start with this: on a cool engine take the rad cap off and then turn the car on and let it run to temp. watch for air bubbles and/or the thermostat opening and upper flow starting. this way you can burb it AND tell if your thermostat =Fail if it passes this and is still hot grab a 180* thermostat and try again for a week if its still high . . . do the fan wire mod (wiring both fans so they come on together)
you could try a radiator flush and see if anything comes out (rust, lyme, scale etc) a higher pressure radiator cap MAY help but then you have to make sure you have reinforced hoses that can take the new strain.
if all these fail then look into a Fluidyne, C&R, or other good Aluminum radiator.

hmmm, thats an idea.. yeah maybe i'll do that..
as far as the oil temp.. i dont have a guage to determine the temp.. i could always throw one in to see...
i'm just wondering.. cuz with the downpipe and all that new stuff where the stock manifold once was.. you think it might be the heat off the turbo affecting either the temp in the rad, or the sensor?
when i took the hose off for the rad to do the install, i did notice like a yellow'ish type goop (gotta love how technical i get) kinda hardend on the bottom of the thermostat housing, i scraped it to see what that was.. and it just flaked away.. so i dunno if the people before me had put some of that coolant garbage in it to prevent overheating or something?? :-s

Wow that sucks, I had that happen the week after I installed my turbo, The radiator cap wasnt holding pressure and water evaporated pretty quick, an hour later I noticed temps rise , then as I went down the hill they drop, very quick . The wasnt much water flow. I replaced the cap and flushed been perfect since then.
