#115969, "whining noise after driving for a while"

So I've been hearing a whining noise coming from the area that the a/c ps pumps and alt. are, its not a belt its a bit lower pitched then that more like a chirping noise at first like birds almost then it gets louder if I drive further, when I had the hood up listening for it it sounds like its coming from the ps pully but I'm not sure, has anyone else run into this? Or could give me pointers? The PS is about 10 months or so old but once the car cools off it doesn't stop after about 30 minutes when the engine bay warms up.

info on the car - 1997 Mitsubishi Eclipse RS NT no real mods aside from AEM CAI and an exhaust.

My car isn't gray, the paint is just fading.

if it sounds like it's coming from the PS pump area it might be the tensioner right below it. the bearing is known for going bad and whining. you can remove the tensioner and go with a slightly smaller belt using the adjustment in the pump or replace the bearing. do a search for the belt size or the bearing part #

I just had this problem twice.

First time, it was the alternator lower bracket that was loose, and required it to be replaced along with the bracket.

The second time it was the bearing. No need to wait, just have your local parts store that carries bearing cross-reference the bearing with one they have in house.
