I unplugged it to take the center console out and then the next day i put it back in and bam, no cig lighter output! I checked the wires to make sure they were still intact. Next, I checked the fuses - all were good. And finally weeks later (today) I ran my own Power and Ground wires straight to the cig lighter and it still wouldn't work! I checked continuity of the factory Ground and it was good but I wasn't reading any power through the +12v wire however it took me a while to confirm +12v even through the new wire so I suspect I just didn't have the tester poking at the right spot on the plastic terminal (I placed it in so as to touch the metal inside the plastic piece.). I also tested it with 2 devices thinking one might also be faulty - radar detector and PSP car charger. The Power and Ground wires I ran today go to/from the same spot that my amp uses in the back to power the stereo so I know those are good... Does this confirm that my cig lighter just quit on me? If so, I already attempted to google but had no luck so does anyone know where I can buy a replacement cig lighter??? thanks!

it could be dead. go to your local parts store and look in the electrical aisle. they should have one for ~$10

the cig lighter socket has a fuseable link built into it. if you look at the back of it, its a 90degree piece of thin wire that runs between to contacts. its burned out. I soldered mine and bypassed it.
