#11593, "prob with my auto tranny it sticks"

ok guys.. when i make a left turn.. usually a harder left ... my tranny sticks.. like it goes into N.. so i hit the gas and it just revss up..
then eventually it catches and i can go again..

sometimes when i try to back out it doesnt want to catch either..

i think right turns do it too not sure.. but theres this one turn everyday i leave work.. it always gets me..

well it happened a few months ago. so i put some Gunk tranny cleaner stuff in there) and it fixed it.. didnt do it for like 6 months its just started to do it again. should i just put in more..

and ideas what my prob would be?? im kinda hoping it just blows so i can get a 5spd swap.. if i had a reason i could get the cash and help with it..

I love dino and 2gnt. ####ers (my word) bliz stole it but i let him borrow it

It sounds like you are just a little low on tranny fluid. You might have a leak somewhere......

Hey that sounds like what mine does ... not exactly the same because it only does it when I first start driving it around. It eventually goes away but it's pretty consistant when I first get in the car. I've already checked the tranny fluid ... it's ok and I had it flushed about 5k miles ago.

Thats what happens before your shit goes. Well its what happened before on my last car anyway. Does it do it only right away when the tranny is cold or like all the time.

It happened 3 times this morning to me. Once just putting it in drive (I let the car warm up a couple of minutes) stepping on the gas and nothing ... engine revs to like 3.5k then catches and goes. Then again coming around the cul de sac (my house is on a street with a cul de sac and I park on the street facing the cul de sac). Same deal just revs freely then catches when I put some gas to it. Then once more pulling out of the neighborhood.

I wouldn't say it's only in the mornings. Mine is just when the car has been sitting long enough. It will happen probably when I leave work but it's not as certain to happen as it does in the mornings. I'd have to say it happens about 3-5 times a day. That's why that swap is in my VERY near future.

I heard that our trannies aren't supposed to shift during a curve. (auto) You could drop the pan and make sure you don't have valves sticking. If so, take the valve body off if yopu know how, clean with gas/kerosene mix, and blow it off with an air hose. I assume by being on a military base, you might have access. See if this frees anything up. If not, try some smart blend or what they call marvel mystery oil if you can find it. Try anything to help smooth the tranny out. I can find out what else can help from my dad. he knows what to do about sticking trannies and shit. Hit me up on aol.

ok thanks guys.. well my boy had a air compressor but i can get one on base too.. i got all kinda cool toys.. plus theres a auto hobby shop.. and now they have the only lift i can fit on... well excluding this one muffler place but we had to use boards to help me up it.... anyhow..

i didnt get what u meant about our trannies not shifting duringa turn.. im not trying to make it shift i left off the gas and slow to turn and it happens.. sometimes i wonder if its cuz im going really slow.. it doesnt happen at high speeds.. hmm i have no clue.. its not a big deal just wanted to see a easy fix.. so guys dont worry about it..

its not a prob .. hope it doesnt become a bigger one..

I hear that. The lifts around have to use boards for me too. I suggest just trying to work the valves in th valve body. Check fluid levels. try unhooking the + battery cable to reboot. If it is solved for a while, and starts up again, you need new shift solenoids. I say drop the pan, maybe change fluid if the levels aren't low. If there is metal, that could be causing the sticking. If not, change the fluid, and add some of that marvel mystery oil to your fluid. You should be able to find it at advance auto, autozone, or pep boys, a place like that. Try unhhoking the battery for a while tho to see if it may be electrical. Hope you get it fixed easily.

I read it somewhere. I didn't think it was true. I have never had mine floored in a curve either. I know it won't shift when spinning. In bad weather, mine will hit the limiter and bog after it catches traction, then rev up, then shift. I guess that's how it is supposed to be done.
