i'm running a venom intake, cai, jeep tb, headers, etc. and nos. i shitcanned the egr but still have the solenoid and sensor hooked up, just hanging. the cel is on for egr malf. which doesn't bother me but now this year nys (newyorksucks) says i have to pass their shitty emissions inspection before i can renew my registration. is there a way to trick the ecu that everythings cool? i was thinking of trying a variable resistor in place of the sensor and trying to tweak it in, but from what i could get from my search it's not constantly monitored but a test that gets run every so often?? any ideas?

good luck with that
lots of people have tried for this holy grail of fixes, most ended up removing the bulb. there is no resistor mod for this the only one i know of that worked was to make an custome machined aluminum vented block so the egr was still pluged in and a vacuum hose attached where the pipe would have been, thereby instead of drawing in exhaust it pulled in fresh air and the computer still saw flow, but without the drawbacks of the carbon build up.

If you have the solenoid hooked up you wouldn't need the resistor, as the ECU should measure the drop for that solenoid. I think the ECU puts up a code because when it activates it, it doesn't see the spike in intake air temp.... I've screwed with this a bit, but luckily my car ('95) only needs the dyno/sniffer test and the CEL doesn't matter, so I stopped messin with it. I did notice while scanning that when the EGR kicks in the spark goes to another preset table/ or adds a constant, as cruise spark reads around 50 at times on the hwy, compared to high 30's, low 40's with it off. That was using MS when nothing physically would change on the engine as the EGR solenoid was d/c from the valve.
