I have a HEAVY coolant leak coming from behind the tiing belot cover area, its def NOT the head gasket or the water pump. Retarded shop I took it to couldn't even tell where it was coming from. Car purges almost all the coolant as soon as I turn it on.

In the timing area but not the HG or water pump? doesn't sound possible. possibly coming from the coolant flange? you don't really have anything else coolant related in that area.

only other thought would be a heater hose with a hole squirting in that general direction

I've been told by another member that it's possibly the freeze plugs.

Anybody have any experience with that/those?

Looking through the pics in corbin's rebuild http://www.2gnt.com/www/corbin/rebuild.html there is a freeze plug slightly behind the idler pulley. you'll have to pull the timing covers to get to it.

Check the main coolant pipe first. The one that plugs into the back side of the pump on the exhaust manifold side. It's the plastic pipe that runs into the hole in the block on the back side of the pump. If that seal goes coolant will pour out like elephant piss. The freeze plugs are your next check after the main pipe IMO...
