#115285, "What should i do? Rust in water jacket."
I got this free 420a engine block but it has some rust in the cylinders and in the water jacket. i need to rebuild a 420a but don't know if i should find another block or take this one down to the machine shop and have it cleaned. Whats do all you think is the best way to go.

Run with it. A little rust in the water jacket never hurt anybody.

if you're really worried get it running and use some coolant flush that has rust remover in it, otherwise a little rust won't hurt unless it's scaled and flaking.

If you're really worried about it, get a wire brush attachment for your cordless drill and use it to clean up the jacket a bit. So long as the rust in the cylinders isn't ancient and fully penetrating the cylinder walls, it should be okay to bore it away.
