My buddy had this:

Sorry picture is lame I will get more soon but you can see it....kinda.

And he was a pizza delivery driver and drove the piss out of it. So the rocker busted. I got it for 2 grand with 193,something miles, as a project car and I had my 99 spyder to drive to drive in the mean time. Long story short my license is suspended (21 points before the 4 point reducion class). I just sold the spyder; finished paying this of, had a wild weekend, and I just bought new sbi rocker arms, sbi lifter, new top line valves, crane valve springs, and I won some crane 431-0014. Plus the car came with some obx adjustable cam gears. I found a spare head for cheap off ebay but its really dirty but its had a recent valve job. I want to send it to CI motorsports and get some porting done to it. The car is still driveable so the rocker is not that bad I assume. Could leave the head I have on there and swap all the parts and it be fine, or would the busted rocker have caused damage to the head. I guess is that it is just tearing the cam lobe, valve stem, and/or lifter up.

crane 431-0014: $149.49
crane valve springs: $107.22
SBI Rocker Arm Set $157.22
sbi lifters: $83.25
MSD Ignition Coil: $86
OBX Red 10.3mm Spark Plug Wires: $52.99
Unorthodox Crank Pulley: $64.70
topline valves: $105.48
Totals: 806.35

Then the head I bought was like $230.

I am so new to this...so if you guys could looks at what I should do.

Take off the valve cover and inspect the damage. I'd be willing to be it's not even a rocker, if you lose one of four valves on a cylinder, you can really feel it and it's quite obvious something is wrong.

I'd lose that hideous front bumper and not drive like an asshat above all else. 21 points? No reason for that other than blatant stupidity.

But yeah. Pull the valve cover and check out the lifters. What makes Speedy McDelivery-Guy an expert on a broken rocker? What symptoms does the car have?

(Watch it be lifter tick from the oil never being changed.)

is it possible to actually break a "rocker" in our cars? I bent every intake valve on my car and the rockers were all over the place in the head but none of them were broken. they gouged pretty good marks into the cams though

You need to add top end gasket set, headgasket if not included, head studs, mine as well throw on a timing belt, sense head will be off anyways. Maybe water pump and oil pump with that many miles on it. Hell with the head coming off might even want to replace the bottom end.

Thats what every engine shop in charleston says. I am sending my head off to be machined where should I send it? I was thinking about this place named simmons that I hear is good.

I think 2 grand may have been a bit much but it looks nice, I would do as the others say and inspect everything, unless this guy actually took it to a shop and was told that was the problem I just dont buy it. the eclipse I bought I was told it ran without oil and it siezed.. well upon dissasembling I found the intake full of water along with the #1 cylinder! He had actually sucked water in through his Cold air intake and told his dad and everyone that the shop that had recently serviced it didnt put oil in it... well my machine shop said that the engine had normal wear and tear on the bearings, which isnt likely on a car that ran without oil so much that it stopped running.. it had a bent rod too, and myself and other believe was caused by the water.

but yeah check it all out.
