Hey everyone, got a somewhat serious problem right now as my car and I are stuck at work 30 miles from home, but it won't start.
I was on my way to work, had just driven a good 20 minutes or so, 18 miles of pure highway with cruise control on, then I exited to head to my office. At the end of the off ramp is a red light, I sat there for a minute, it turned green and as soon as I tried to accelerate the car died completely. It idled fine seconds before, but once I put load on it it shut off.
Got it towed to work, and here my coworker and I tried to check some things out. I had no electrical power what so ever, couldn't even put my windows up. When I turned the ignition no interior or guage lights came on, nothing. Tried to charge the battery and jump it, nothing still.
Finally I realized the ignition fuse was blown. I swapped it for another, tried to start the car, not a sound, no light, and that fuse blew too. Put another brand new spare I had in the car in there, this time it beeped when I turned the ignition, but as soon as it cranked the 3rd fuse blew. My coworker was watching the engine and said that 3rd time the engine did turn over but nothing happened since the ignition fuse blew instantly.
Does anyone have any idea why it would have driven just fine for 20+ miles, then just died. And now it keeps blowing ignition fuses?
