it is 2 years later and I once again did not prepare for smog. I'll have to file an extension like I did last time, but it's prolly a given I'll need a new cat.
Also, any idea if the testers would have a problem if the dash doesn't fully illuminate? The actual warning indicators seem to come on - for example the low fuel indicator works, and I'm pretty sure the CEL would as well (need to pay more attention next time I start it up). I've been driving it this way for a while now, which is fine during the day but at night I have no idea how fast I'm going...
magnaflow high flow for $88, doesn't say that it'll pass cali but if they're really jerks you may get stuck with a $300+ OE cat from satan

I just bought a Magnaflow cat off Ebay. It is a real catalytic converter, it was like $65 shipped. It was a great deal, search for it.

Juan, as far as your dash lights are concerned, those lights have different bulbs than your CEL and other dummy lights, so that won't affect smog.
I'm assuming you have a burned out rheostat. You can replace it with another one to get the dash lights back on, or bypass your existing one (so dash lights will always be on with 100% intensity, with no dimmer switch.) Driving without those lights is a pain. But then again, it's more reason to take your evo out, right?
