#114551, "Adding Cruise Control"

After driving my buddies talon, I really want cruise on my car. As far as Ive been told, all I need is all the components and they should just plug right in. I checked behind the foglight switch, there is a cruise harness. Is it as simple as plugging stuff in? What about the switch behind the wheel? Thanks for any info.

Sounds like it should all plug in but you would probably need the junction box for all the throttle cables. And the switch behind the steering wheel is a good question. If the wiring is there you could always cut a slot for the switch. If you need the switch I have it.

Theres actually a little pop out cover where the switch goes. Im pretty sure it was designed from the factory to just be plug and play. I have a harness for power seats under my seat.

I just got rid of all of my cruise components to convert to NON cruise. Hit me up w/ an offer for everything if you're interested.

I've only used my cruise maybe 3 times in the last 6 years. I'm contemplating on removing it all.

I want it because Im going to be going to school soon and trying to hold the gas down in the same position for 100 miles a day on the freeway gets old. Plus if I ever sell my car, cruise control is just one more option I can add. As long as there are existing wires, Im gonna try it. Maybe make a write up if I succeed.

You'll need the junction box and cruise throttle cable and the CC switch, Trade me your non-cruise cable and I'll give you everything I just mentioned. (Minus the switch)

I dont know, I might only need a few parts. Im gonna list them, let me know if more are needed.

H=have, N=need

H Cruise on/off switch
H Set/acc switch
N junction box(and all throttle cables)
H Vacuum Servo and throttle cable
H Relay that sits on junction box
N Vacuum tank(sits under alternator)and vac lines
H Connector for Vacuum Servo

I just cut the connectors of the donor car. Will I be able to open the loom for the harness and find these connectors? Or will I have to splice them in somehow? I really want to do this, but Im wondering how im going to get the harness hooked up. Right now the cruise on/off switch works, the yellow light comes on when i push on.

Well I just found out that you also need the clockspring from the steering of the CC vehicle also. The set/acc switch wires go into that. On my car its just blank with no connectors in it. Guess this isnt going to be as easy as I thought.

Im bringing this back up, mostly because I havent given up.

The clockspring deal; I actually managed to get it all hooked up, only destroying 1 of my 2 clocksprings. Its pretty much just as I though, all plug and play. The wires are there and just not hooked up to the controls. I managed to aquire a vacuum tank and junction box/throttle cables. As far as I know, I have everything I need to make this work. Do any of you know of there is a seperate computer for the cruise control, or is it all the ECU?

If its just the ECU, Im thinking I can hook all this up, find the pinouts for my car and wire the relay in. Sound plausible?
