Hello,
I brought a turbo kit for my car, I have it on, but its been parked at the garage for the longest time cause I couldnt pay the bill.
Now I can, but.....
Well, my problem is that there is blue smoke coming out of the tail pipe after it runs for a good 20 or so min., I know this means it is burning oil, but I know it can't be the engine cause I put a new rebuilt engine in it.
So Im wanting to jerk turbo off and be done with it, but it seams to be runing great other then cloud of blue smoke from he tail pipe...Im thinking its a bad turbo.
Oh and the turbo gets really hot and starts smoking.

If anyone has any ideas or anything it will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Trampis Jr

First of all, I'm no a pro. That being said here are some links I dug up for you.

The consensus seems to be valve stem seals of ring issues or possibly a PCV valve. What all did you have redone on the new engine? As for the turbo I would check for leaks on the oil feed line. Starting up my new engine and turbo I could always see smoke coming off the turbo w/ a faint burning oil smell. Found out it was a simple leak. They will always run hot just make sure its getting oil.

What type of turbo is it? I've read about some having issues with the oil system damaging oil seals in the turbo and a restrictor on the inlet side is sometimes needed. Anybody else have input on this?

What sort of motor rebuild did you do?

Have you checked the turbo for signs of leakage?

Is the return line as straight as possible, and large enough? What size is it?

Thanks msl-man for the links.

I'm sorry guys I forgot to tell you the car was smoking blue smoke before the new rebuilt engine was put in, (which was rebuilt and brought as a new rebuilt engine from the ground up) from a company and now it still is.
So I about know its nothing to do with the engine itself.
The oil return line big enough and stratght.
The turbo is a little T-3, and I'm leaning toward that being the problem?

Check the compressor and turbine sides for signs of oil leakage.

Sounds like the seals are taking a shit; how old is your turbo? I know on cold start my oil pressure sees about 90-100+ psi of oil till the engine gets warm then its down to 30-40 once warm. Is it a ball bearing or standard journal? What type of oil feed line do you have? Is it bigger than a -3 an? Does your drain tube have any kinks in it restricting flow?
