My car died. I bitched about it. I wanted another honda.

Well, fate wasn't having it. I never realized how easy it was to work on my engine until i had to work on a 3800 series two and a chrysler 3.5L v6 while they were both STILL IN THE CAR! I actually wanted to cry at some points working on the 3800.... I said right then and there after i was done that i'm not going to bitch about working on my car again. Compared to those two, my car is cake.

I was browsing craigslist for shits and giggles...seeing what i could find that i need. A guy on the NC/SC state line (like 5 minutes away from me) has 4 neon motors, 4 neons with motors installed, 3 trannys....all kinds of shit. He's pulling the head off a 99 engine for me and selling me the shortblock for $150. He is also a tuner and likes working with the neon platform so that's plus 2 in my favor. Funny we've never met. I might try to talk about getting a clutch and a 3.55 tranny as well. I dont know yet. I need alot of stuff besides a block. Like a cam angle sensor seal (i'll see what i can do with black rtv and some gasket board), clutch that doesn't have oil all over it from my leaky rear main, coolant, oil, a battery, etc.

I still have $350 to play around with. So, be ready for teardown and build pics. I'll build her up like stock and after i order a few more things, i'm throwing the turbo on. It's about f-ing time....

Goodnight sweetheart...yes its time to go...bum bum bum bum bum...good night sweetheart yes I am one little a$$hole......bum bum bum bum....

WOO HOO!

Never give up! our engines are actually very easy compared to many of the others out there. I've been helping my friend with prepping his SR20 for the machine shop and that thing is a BITCH! even sitting on the stand it took us hours just to get the damn timing assembly apart.

The shit part about it is i never found any comprehensive read sites on the 3800 service/modification nor the 3.5L chrysler v6.... It was all by feel, cold hard research with words only (no pictures. emoji), and busting the shit out of my hands for about 3 weeks...

Atleast when i work on my car, i know what i'm doing and i know what has to be done for the most part.

You're always sig'n my shit! Lol.

Good news. Block is here today. $150 bones dropped off.

95 sohc neon block with 90k.

I enjoyed talking about megasquirt, beating the shit out of stock motors, forced induction, all motor....

He's used/done it all and he plans to do some crazy ass 22:1 cr all motor build.... He's even gone as far as ran a 150 shot on a stock motor with no fuel or engine management. I dont know how but he said he just ran it for a year (at the track only) and it held. His tuner knows megasquirt in and out so he said when i'm ready for it, he'll hook me up.

The guy i bought my engine from lives like 3 miles from me and does things like roll cages. (charged a guy $300 shipped for a 4pt and would have done a 6 free of charge b/c shipping was so high).

If anyone needs an engine or tranny, pm me and i'll shoot you an email address.

Jesus Christ monkey balls.

So awesome.

I know who will be doing my full 3" turbo back. Showed him what i wanted and showed him the 4 bolt mitsu flange we'll be using and he said "no problem".

He also had an awd 2g dsm and said if i was looking to swap a 4g63 in, he would do it cheap and right as long as i had the front clip. I'm not doing that but he said if i ever changed my mind, he's the man to speak to. His neon is tubbed out up front, is running msns V2.2(?) and is awaiting 3.0 to come out. Look up "Beonneon" and "the flash" on neons.org.

Looks like any issues i've had with the 420a are done. I can get whatever parts i need quick and delivered. Called him, 20 minutes later he was at the house with my engine.

I=stoked.

Update:

Dropped the old motor out and took it apart. She'll be put back together with forged goodness when i can afford it. She still had the crosshatching but i'm still boring 20 over and getting it line honed.

Dropped the car on the '95 block, buttoned her up, hooked up all the sensors, slapped a new intake mani gasket on, fabbed up some egr blockoff plates, filled my motor mounts with window weld....blah blah.

She's almost done. All i need to do is my fuel system, hook up my fcd, aquire a new bov and pipe/flange, order my oil lines from tuner toys this week....etc. Also need to cut my downpipe and external dump for my internally gated t25.... Clocking that thing is a whore. Gotta order some slim fans and fill up all the fluid and we're ready for some pulls. Lot of stuff to do but i've been busy since i've been offline. Been working steady for about 3 weeks now and about 2 weeks left to go.

Who says you need a cherry picker? Just drop the bitch on the ground, unbolt the block from the tranny, raise the car up and slide the motor out. Cake.

Ok. Update. Boost gauge is hooked up.

Still trying to figure out where my fucked up idle is comming from so i think i'll take it to advanced after work tomorrow and see if i'm throwing any weird codes.

I adjusted my toe on one of my wheels. It was waaay out of wack. Now i need to go up front and play with my tie rods. (insert dirty joke).

During a test pull today, i blew the upper heater hose that connects to the t-stat. I saw smoke pouring from under my hood and went into panic mode. After slapping myself to composure, i went downstairs to find my neon hardline. Yay. Silicone multiply spare ftw!

Just topped her off and getting ready to put fix a flat in my rear tires. Stupid dirt roads and metal parts. I pulled what looked like a chunk of barbed wire out of one of the outer blocks.

In other news, my hks knockoff bov arrived. A friend of mine hooked it up with a pusher fan for a dc strut bar and a t25 i had in my basement. It's a two wire type so if anyone wants to give a hand at helping me wire that up, i'm all ears. I scored an oil return line and my starion fmic is on it's way. The 1g sidemount wasn't workable unless i relocated the computer and fuse box. I'll do that one day but it's far to f-ing hot out to splice, crimp and run all those wires to my spare tire well.

Laters.

Brandon

I left the computer where it was at and decided to get a front mount.

Battery relocation is easy. Just use a distrobution block for the ecu harness, ground the battery to the frame in the hatch and run some big ass cable from the distrobution block to the battery.

I used 5ga amp cord. No problems. I'd go with a 4 or a 2 ga just to be on the safe side if i were you.

To move the ecu to the hatch, you're going to have to lengthen wires. Personally, i'd mount it behind the glove box vs running oodles of wire to the hatch. Same goes with the fuse box.

LABEL ALL WIRES BEFORE YOU CUT. LABEL BOTH ENDS!!!!! This will save you ALOT of time.

I wouldn't be too intimidated by it. I'm a retard and i've rewired a bunch of shit in my car w/o having it blow up in my face.
