I boughr a ELM327 USB Scan Tool to see why my check engine light is on. However when i connect it to the port underneath the car however I always get this error from the computer. "CAN Error make sure vehicle is obd 2 compliant and ignition is on" what gives?? I have a check engine light and Cant see what it is???

The ELM327 should work just fine. It supports a variety of protocols, including CAN, PWM, VPW and ISO; your car operates with ISO. I don't know what software you're using to try to connect to the interface, but there's probably a setting somewhere for you to specify the protocol.

So is it the scanner or the software Im confused? Well I have the ScanTool.net for Windows v1.13. Is there any different software to use with this. I really want to see this check engine problem
