Well, I really don't have a super charger, but it sounds like I do. I just had a new P/S pump put in along w/ a new pulley and belt. Now I have this whine from the pump that sounds almost exactly like a super charger, it's kinda cool. Is it a problem or is it just the pump getting broken in?

Usually when the pump whines like that it means there might be a leak somewhere, low fluid level, or a bad pump itself. First thing is to check the fluid level, and it could be that the system wasn't bled of all the air either..

yeah, the mechanic did say that it "need to work out some air bubbles"

So is this a problem that will go away then?

You need to fill it up with fluid with the car running and also have someone turn the wheel both directions. I have a bad steering rack so I use 1 - 2 bottles of PS fluid per day until my new rack arrives next week. Thanks Greg! Anyways, mine gets that whine when it is low on fluid and I need to add almost a full bottle.

I kinda had a supercharger also when my downpipe wasn't connected after my turbo install. I drove for a day w/ a V-8 supercharged sound. It was nice having the turbo spool at idel!
