#113560, "how high with minimal electronics?"
Jan-29-04 08:32 AM by CarbonFiberRST

alright... I get paid min wage and only get about 25 hours a week so i need to budget. I currently have Hahn's stage 2 with fmic and thermal catback (more info at www.cardomain.com/id/carbonfiberrst) the engine is built with 8.8:1 and I want to run more than 8psi.

I have seen a few people running high levels of boost off their cartech fmu and I would like ALL the info I can get on how you went about doing this and how well it works... thinking of 400-500cc injectors and a manual ballvalve boost controller... will this work?(daily drivable?)

over time i can get a piggy back or electronic boost controller but I want as much as I can get out of what I have now. I spent over an hour reading after searching and I didn't find all the info I need. just that it has been done and a few details.

chill factory's unit http://www.chillfactory.us/regulator.html is an option i could go with but only if necesary b/c its more $$$ and I can get 93 octane were I live. I want to run atleast 15psi.

Also would a wide band o2 sensor be necessary? currenty i have a CEL for the stock o2 sensor... and i repalced it and after 160 miles it came back on...

help me out please and if what i have listed isn't enough to accomplish 15psi sudgest the minimum items necessary and any tuning tips anyone has are needed...
TIA

just go buy one of those $20 manual boost controller's off ebay and hook it up. If you have forged internals then 15 psi shouldn't be a problem. Just try not to lean it out. Get the sfmu with a 12:1 disk and start tunin.

ok i have to buy the SFMU and 440s. hahn's stage 3 that is designed for 15psi comes with an ignition to perform retard functions... i am hoping this isn't necessary? and will is the a/f ratio reading that the apexi turbo timer reads accurate enough for basic tuning? the 12:1 is recomended for 440s or was that suggested for stock injectors?

Be careful, some of the info above is not accurate. I do not have time to reply in depth. Do some searches in the turbo section. Try SFMU or FMU. It will tell you what people have been using for fuel and what size disc to use with what injectors.

This can be locked as it is not an advance tuning topic.
