I've got a automatic 99 GS that has a slight, annoying problem. When starting the car up cold, it starts up and idles fine for a while, until the temperature guauge needle is pointing right at the bottom line(probably around 100*F?). Right at this moment, every single time, the idle starts to surge up and down approximately 800 RPM's. It does this in gear and in neutral. I don't have any data logging software or an OBDII scanner, which leads me to my next question. What data logging software is there for the 420a? I have a modern laptop, so I can use software and a cable. I have a link to "www.obd-2.com" and that seems like a nice program and cables. Does anyone use anything else, or have experience with the obd-2 link system? Any information is gladly welcomed!

A few people are using that exact software for datalogging and it works fine. Do you have a check engine light of any kind? First things I would guess at are the 02 sensor or Map sensor.

check your spark plugs, mine did it too and i had a cracked insulator on one of the plugs.

Sensors that come to mind would be MAP, IAC, coolant temp, O2 sensors. If any of these is bad it could effect idle.
