My car has been down for a month and I can't get it to run.
no spark
no power to ignition coil...coil tests good
6v to cam sensor not 12v
no power to crank sensor
no ckeck engile light...no codes
fuel relays test good...76ohms
fuel pump new.

car cranks dont start. cant hear fuel pump turn on. think maybe computer or voltage reg in computer dont know how to check computer or what else to check.

when 12v direct to cam sensor, fan powers and check engine light comes on???

Neither the cam or crank sensors are 12v. They are powered by the ECU's 9v supply.

No power to the crank sensor would explain why it doesn't start. Figure that part out first.

I've tested various points in the wire from the cam sensor to the ecu and, it's grounded. All places and all three wires with no frays or sheathing missing.

did you check all around the EGR pipe?

if its grounded, then you obviously know the problem. find the fault in the wiring.

Checked egr pipe and it is fine, all hoes to it are in exc. condition, and wiring to the sensor has 11.80 volts to it.

No....thats not what I meant.

I meant to check all your wires AROUND the EGR pipe...that harness has tendency to melt against the EGR pipe when it gets hot\.

all wires seem to be intact.
i have taken off the top and bottom harness and the side part next to the motor. all wires in factory wraping opened up tape and case. do any of the sensor wires go into the car to the other fuse box? anywhere other than between the fuse box and ecu?

i dont no if i am testing right i use a test light and when one end hooked to car batt pos side the other probed into the crank sensor wire it lights. key on or off. do that mean its grounded?

i think i have the talon, that the voltage regulator for the ecu is in the ecu...95 talon esi
what else would cause so many sensors to have incorrect readings?

I dont think you are using your test lamp correctly.

If you are checking for power or signal at the sensor, your test lamp should be clamped onto the NEGATIVE side of the battery.

If you are testing for a ground on the sensor, then the clamp for the lamp needs to be on the POSITIVE side of the battery.

Have you checked the obvious, meaning the ASD relay? Try swapping it with another relay. The ASD relay is located on the firewall on the driver's side.

If you have no start due to no spark, the pattern goes Crank sensor>Cam sensor>Coil pack.

You keep saying cam sensor. The car won't run without the crank sensor signal. Figure out why you're not getting voltage and / or signal at the crank angle sensor!

all wires from cam and crank sensor intact from sensor to ecu. even took apart under fuse box and ecu and inspected all wires, cleaned up the ground under all of it. i keep thinking maybe the ecu but dont have way to tell if that is the problem. any other sensors that would cause it not to spark or start? also no check engine light on startup??

map .75v
tps .67v
iac .10v

I dont think you have the slightest idea of what you are doing.

If you are using a test LIGHT, how do you know those are your voltage numbers?

Did you look into the ASD relay like I told you to check?

Now that you posted another thread already on the same subject, there you said you have no power to the fuel pump, no spark, and no DLC connection.

Have you looked at the ENGINE fuse in the engine bay fuse block?

found another site with lower voltage...checked with volt meter...sensors appear within range but no power to ignition coil via plug at coil pack. also no check engine light in the car when i torn key on. does that matter?

btw i dont know much about auto repair but somehow i have figured out this car for 8 years and 100k miles...till now...lol...i just want to get it running and, not that it matters im a girl

when my ecu crapped out, that was the first thing I noticed, no check engine light at startup. The same thing happened, car would crank forever, but never fire. I found another compatiable ecu, and she started right up. I realize that few have spare ecu's lying around, but if you can get your hands on one, hook it up and give it a try.

Interesting.

Sounds to me like you either have a bad crank sensor causing no spark, or indeed, a faulty ecu.

There is really no way to test the ecu. Try swapping one out.

Checking the cam position sensor (CMP) and crank position sensor (CKP): Using digital multi-meter (these are $20 at Sears, by the way), slip push pins into the back of the connector at each sensor (at the appropriate locations, of course, see your manual). Clip your meter leads to them and, if you're solo, set the meter on the windshield where you can read it from inside the car. Crank the engine. You will be looking for an alterating 5 volts DC (VDC). The cams turn at HALF the crank speed. (ie; If the engine is idling at 800rpm, the cmp will alternate 400/min and the ckp will alternate 800/min.)

If you can verify that you have the alternating 5VDC from both the CMP and CKP at BOTH the sensors AND the ECU, then it's a safe bet that your ECU is fux0red, imo.

You could have messed some other stuff up if you where sending 12 volts through it when you had the test light hooked up to the positive battery terminal. The figures that you gave could also just be noise if you have a cheap meter. People are telling you what to do here, follow directions. Its simple, most of the time no start problems are easy to identify.

brand new crank sensor...old one was cracked. also it seems like there is a lot of oil in all of the lower plugs. is this normal?

wich wires are the power and ground for the ecu?
at fuse box if u pull fuse foe ecu and test there is 11.8v to it

ill check crank voltage 2moro. but if the sensors are good with that ammount of voltage then the olny thing getting no volts is the ignition coil...ill check the power supply at the ecu?...its too dark ill check that later too. any other suggestions are helpful

the fuse is good, get 12v to fuse box. looks like there are 2 red with black stripe wires comong out back of it. 12v at first plug below fuse box then no power to ecu.wiring between looks good, took mostly apart. crank and cam sensors .6v when cranking, drops to .3v gona try to hook ecu direct to batt and see if it starts??? is that ok to do?
