#111225, "rebuild HELP QUICK PLEASE!!!"

Hey, first of all thanks. Im in the middle of MAJOR rebuild, got engine all the way out of the car onto the engine stand, and tomorrow it goes to the machine shop. I wanted to take all the main stuff apart and I've got it all the way down to the oil pump for the most part. My problem is getting off the gear on the crankshaft that is in the way for the oil pump to be removed. It is *not* the crankshaft pulley. I have already removed that with the harmonic damper puller. This is the gear that the timing belt actually rides on and it *appears* to be the only thing left holding the oil pump on. Someone please help me A.S.A.P. Thank You

You need to use a harmonic balancer puller. YOu will prob have to get some long bolts to thread into the crank gear. You need about 3-4" long bolts to go into the puller/crank gear.

The harmonic puller is for taking of the pulley that the alternator and p/s belts ride in correct? I have already taken that off but am now trying to get off the gear that the actual timing belt rides on. Do I uuse the same tool?????

Yes you do, you use the same puller.

if it doesn't fit, you can use the harmanic puller to screw on to the gear with 3 bolts, then use a 5ton 3-arm puller to pull on the harmanic puller to get the gear out! =)

See ya.
Good luck.
I got mine done last week..but sadly, messed up the Tranny.... =(

If the crank pully that you have already removed is stock, then you would have used a 5 ton 3 jaw puller to take it off. For the gear that the timing belt rides on, you must use a harmonic balancer puller. When you buy the puller, it should come with the right size bolts for you to use, but the length of the bolts will probably be too short. Just go to the hardware and pick up bolts that are about an inch longer and you should be set.
