#111097, "For anyone with alternator removal/installation heebie jeebies"

Hey all, last night i was doing some searching about how to remove/install my alternator. i read this post... http://forums.2gnt.com/dcboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=5&topic_id=42551&mesg_id=42551&listing_type=search

i didn't use any of those 3 methods mentioned. it seemed like it was to much work just go get that darn thing out. after i unpluged the plug, unscrewed the ground wire, and took out the upper and lower mounting bolts i simply unbolted the alternator braket from the head(which is only held on by two easy to reach bolts), put a jack under the oil pan and gave it about 4 pumps to raise the engine about an inch. that sucker came right out the top of the engine bay between the intake mani and the passenger side strut tower. it was a piece of cake. no unbolting motor mounts, no unplugging unnecessary things. from jacking up the car to pulling the alternator out the top, it took a grand total of 1 hour on the dot. i was quite unsure of how easy it would be to pull, if you're not sure if you can pull your alternator or not, i say you can. it's simple! i just thought i would give some people some confidence with pulling their alternator. if i would have read a post like this, it would have made me feel much better about starting that project. alright so i guess there's a little bit of newbie in all of us. i just thought i would let everyone know that my method was definitly the easiest of 3 methods posted previously. i like helping people out, so hopefully i helped someone out:thumbsup
