i have spun a rod bearing, and im going to turn my crank. it seems that Clevite 77's are the way to go (not sure why i didnt use them to begin with). as for Main bearings, i only have the "P" option, but the rod bearings have a "P" and an "H" option. i was wondering which i should get.. id assume "P" since its more performance oriented, is that correct?

i would also like to get the ARP main stud kit, but im not intierly sure if its a real necisity, or if it wil work with the IJ crank scraper and baffles/windage tray..is any one running this mixture?

this is all going on a built nd boosted engine with yada yada..

I run the ARP main's with the IJ scraper. There are no issues. As far as the main's being a necessity or not, I would say it depends on your set-up already. I would say get them, however there are parts I would get first, like the head studs. Since you're rebuilding, now would be the best time to get them. As far as the rod bearings, before I bought mine, I asked Howell, and he explained that the finished surface of the "H" was different from the "P", and that I should get the "H". I really don't know if it makes a difference, but for $10 more, I went with the "H". If you haven't already, you can read the explanation on his site.

yea, ive already got ARP head studs, its was more of a: while im in there" idea. thats great theres no interferance. do u run the scraper, and the windage tray with the doors ect?
ill look at the site and see what i can find about the "H". Thanx

I believe H-series is what you want. You may want to check out this link for some info (its a long read, but could be of interest to you)

In my research on the subject there were a couple of respected racers who recommend the half groove bearings for our engine (I can't remember off the top of my head. I want to say DCR was one of them, but it was a while ago. If I remember I will post up). The H series come in half groove and full groove (HG).

With that being said, there is nothing wrong with the ACL's. Given my choice would I choose Clevites over ACL's? Yes, but there is still nothing wrong with ACL's. I say this because you had a failure and you seem to be insinuating that the bearing was the failure. Though that could be the case (I don't even know if you are using ACL's. Just putting that out there), oftentimes people blame the bearing when it is actually something else (again, not saying in this case, just generalities). Be sure to check your components (crank, oil pump, clearances, oil passages etc.) before you put her back together because you could still see the same problem (and that would suck, lol).

lol, yea, it was defiantly oil starvation from low oil + our hard turning issue. hence the adding of a crank scraper and windage tray. the bearing that were in there were mopar, and ive read they are just as good as clevite and ACL, i just figured id go with clevites, and based on the reading/ your guys advice, ill be going with the H series. thanx guys!
