I was wondering what everyone thinks I should do. I currently have my AFX race ecu up for sale and was second guessing myself. I am going with a zex wet nitrous system and was going to run a stock 97 ecu because I don't want the timing advancing with the nitrous right? I could possibly destroy my motor with that setup. But my buddy said that I should keep the computer and just make sure I tune the nitrous right and get the best of both worlds. So, I am kinda stuck here with a couple people interested in buying it at the moment, and my buddy telling me not to sell it. I don't know what I should do because I am afraid of damaging my motor and I don't think my friend is the smartest person. I thought I would ask the people who know more about the 420a than he does. I would like to keep it because as far as all motor goes, it's the shit! But with nitrous, I am weary. Let me hear your input.

Why not get a MSD or Crane Ignition box with a built in Nitrous retard? This way you can keep the AFX Computer. Basically it works by receiving an electrical signal from the nitrous actuation switch (wide open throttle switch, or window switch if you have one). When it receives this signal it pulls 10 degrees of timing until the signal goes away (or rather you let off the gas and the WOT switch or window switch stops sending voltage to your solenoids). This is How I would do it this way you don't sacrifice your normal performance for a little extra on the bottle, and it will pay off because your fuel curve will be better anyway.
Anyway that's just my $0.02

Pulling the timing out of the AFX ecu only when you need it allows you to keep the performance increase when not on the Nitrous but allow you to use the nitrous whenever you want it without the fear of the advance built into the AFX.
Here's my opinion of what you should do:
Sell the AFX ECU. Sell the Eclipse to someone else. Go away.

Yeah, most of the time online I dont use the apostrophes because I can type faster without it. Also because most of the people online dont punctuate or capitalize whatsoever, so they wont notice.

Yes, I am a very angry person towards people who treat others like shit. Thank you for noticing. I don't see why everyone can't just get along and not call people stupid, or idiot etc. Did anyone ever think that maybe someone really gets their feelings hurt and commits suicide after their stupid little remarks? Not to be extreme, but really, think about what that does to certain people. Everyone is so quick to be an asshole it's unbelievable. But don't expect me to sit here and take the bullshit, I won't.

Yawn. Snore. Why bother buying an AFX ecu if you "don't have to put premium in the car anymore."
1.) The AFX ecu has proven gains. 2.) The AFX ecu costs mad money. 3.) Premium costs a little more than normal. 4.) A Crane ignition (or MSD, but not recommended) costs money. 5.) Nitrous system and filling tanks costs money.
1 + 5 = fun car.
What was the point of this thread then if all you want to do is save money on gas prices? Run nitrous with the stock ecu fine, but you are running the ecu without nitrous 94% of the time as a daily driver. Why put nitrous into the equation then? Performance? No. If you were interested in performance you would keep the AFX ecu and run an ignition to retard during Nitrous injection, that fun, fun 6% of the time.
Fair enough. I will modify my original statement. Boring.
1.) Sell the AFX ecu. 2.) Sell the Nitrous kit. 3.) Sell the eclipse. 4.) Buy a Prius. Save money.
5.) Stick around and realize my greatness? nah, that's just a bonus...

Probably because if I were to sell the AFX I would get about $300 that I don't have right now. Plus I plan on MS after winter. And on top of that, the nitrous kit would be from a friend that already has one for super cheap that he's willing to hook me up with. Not to mention putting premium in my car still costs more, and that's money I will save, PERIOD. So..................... If my car was completely empty... and it took a whole 16 gallons.. guess how much less regular would be! Wait for it... Almost... ON AVERAGE $3.20! I don't go racing very much anymore unless it's at the track, (which is not that often either anymore) so nitrous would be way more convenient to have for those rare times I go to the track. The point of this thread was to find out whether or not I could run nitrous with the AFX ECU, was it not?? So in the future when someone wonders the same thing, they can search and find it because it's been covered. Well Shazow1969 answered that question and it was pretty self explanitory if you ask me! Then you came along and made an ass of yourself and just can't seem to let it go! So, that was the point of this thread. Also, yes the question had to do with performance, because I would liked to have kept the AFX, but you said it...94% of the time it's a daily driver and I don't need to run premium for that 6% of the time.
