So i picked up a 96 Eagle Talon ESi 5spd with 77k on it. The kid before me "tried" to do some performance mods to it. He did a full exhaust, Im guessing ebay header, cat, and exhuast. I also found a Turbo-Pro ( http://www.contestmotorsports.com/My_Homepage_Files/Page1.html ) installed on the TPS. That got cut out ASAP. But my questios are. When I start the car and have it running for no more then 2-3 mins, rev it a few times are shut it back off, the header is extremly hot and untouchable. This normal?? I've never seen a header get that hot that fast. Also i started the car tonight left it run for alittle then reved it some (only to 6k) checked the engine bay and then i noticed that there was white smoking coming from the tailpipe. Shut the car off and checked the oil for antifreeze and found nothing. Anyone know what the white smoke might be from besides a blown head gasket?

Depending on how long the car has been sitting and the environment, condensation can form in the motor as well as the exhaust. You can have steam coming from your exhaust for a little while depending on the environmental conditions. After driving it around for half an hour will it still put out some whiteness?

As far as the hot header, I accidentally left a plastic handled flashlight on my stock exhaust manifold minus the heatshield a long time ago when tuning my MSnS. Needless to say within minutes I had a gooey messy liquid flashlight all over my stock manifold. You can bet that smelled tasty for days to come. It is hot combusted gases moving through the SOB, how long did you expect it to remain cool to the touch?

Especially with headers. I even tested this theory. Started it cold at 7 in the morning, opened the hood and touched the header. Result was missing 3 finger prints for a few weeks. Lol at that chode for installing that turbo-junk. What is that, one of those resistors that just tell the engine its not heated up all the way yet, making it stay in open loop?

As for the smoke, with the exhaust thats on it it could very well just be condensation. Id say take it for a drive at normal speeds. You'd know if it was the head gasket. Theres a good chance you wouldnt be able to see behind you.

thats another thing aobut our cars is that they get hot fastt. Well mostly do to it being turboed.

Car Status: P0140 o2 circuit number bank 1 sensor 2 Cel. Ill fix it tomorow lol.

When I first started my car after my engine rebuild I ran it for like 30 seconds at most and my header started smoking and my friends said turn it off. So I shut it off got out and I was like there is no way in hell this thing is that hot already and I touched it....OUCH Dont do that its not a good idea, But I believe it is normal.
