I am going to be buying a used head from a 95 RS to go on my 98 GS. I just want to be sure that the heads will be the same. I know that there were various modifications during the swap from OBD I to OBD II that changed a few things about the thermostat housing, and small emissions related items.
I just want to be possitive that this thing will bolt right up for me.
Thanks for your help!

head is exactly the same. don't mix up your cam caps. use new head bolts and you'll be good.
95 uses obd2, it's just a weird version.

I have a set of ARP currently in my head now. I have a nicely ported, and built head on the car. The bad thing is that one of the lifters is bad. It is more imbarrasing than anything else. That annoying tick tick tick sound just makes my car look like dirt, even though it is pretty fixed up. I want to go ahead and swap the cams anyhow. I am using crane stage 2's at this point, and they are way to aggressive for a turbo'd car. Well, for it to be comfortably streetable anyhow.
There is no low end, and the idle is very loapy. Kinda sounds like a V8 when it idles.
Anyhow, thanks for the quick response. I thought they should work as well. I really want to hear someone say with confidence that they will absolutely bolt up however...

if you've got a nasty tick just buy the PT cruiser lifters and be done with it. why swap to a head that isn't as built when you just need to fix a small issue?

I do have the PT cruiser lifters... that is the bad part! I blame it on Howell though.. It is nothing but poor service and shitty parts that come from those guys. I had a clutch that went south about 3000 miles after installing it that I bought from them as well. But I don't want to bash them...this isn't about that.
The other issue is that I had a bad exhaust leak that I was contributing to weak exhaust gaskets. I was new to the whole turbo idea, and thought the added backpressure was blowing out the gasket. Because of this I had the exhaust manifold off one too many times, and ended up stripping two of the bolt holes for the manifold out. I helacoiled them, but they just are not the same.
Because of all this I just want to start over. I am going to go in with a fresh used, but in my case, new head.
There have been a lot of offers in the WTB section for heads. I just don't want to pay over about $100 bucks with shipping and all.
