Over a year has passed since i got my Talon. After hundreds of cracked out dreams of rb25 swapped 240sx and Beams powered Mr2 I have finally decided to bite the bullet, keep, and mod the damn thing. I feel a little pathetic proposing some of these questions BUT:
2. Strut tower braces. Everyone seems to say its the type of mod that matters if you skimp out, so i think my ebay prowling days are numbered with this one. Big question though; will i see enough gain with a Front bar or will i need both front and rear for noticeable gains?
3. Throttle bodies. Modern performance Tb or 55mm bead blasted tb? I have heard that i should shy away from bead blasting on engine components, I am not sure why. It is not much of a price difference but I do not plan on porting my intake manifold or the runners to utilize the 60mm of the MP.
Any help with some of these decisions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys.

Your first mod should by cold air intake, such as AEM. Then the muffler, the gst catback is cheap and a good upgrade. There are how to stage's in the wikki. Also strut bars will not give you an added HP.

When i purchased the car it came with a short ram intake which is still on, Don't know if a cai would make much more of a difference than what i already have. I found a youtube vid of a gst exhaust and was not TOO fond of it, but thanks for the informative suggestion! And i am aware that a strut tower brace will not give me any extra power, but i am all about cruising the back roads.
I have the same one on my car does real good with the high end
and as for youe exhaust id say buy a ebay header and catback,name brands are just names and wont give you any more than .000001HP if any. OBX and Pacesetter suck dont bother with them.
as for your tower bars they wont do ALOT for your handling and I heard that the cheap eBay ones flex. if you really wana make your car handle better get sway bars and check your tire pressure.
also, if you do get a header, I would suggest painting them with high temperature paint to reduce under hood temps by abit. I painted mine with this, but black good stuff. make sure to wash and sand first.

All aftermarket headers will have a flex section in the down pipe. I've been running that same OBX header for almost a year now and have had no problems with it.
Yes, strut tower bars do make a difference. Don't get the cheap $20 ones of ebay. At least get one that has the I beam style.
Your car should already have at least a front sway bar and maybe a rear one. Unless your really into having a car that handles corners well, I wouldn't spend the $300 on upgraded sway bars.
The 55mm throttle body mentioned above from Steve, (stick47) which is his ebay name, is a good choice. He does excellent work. His website is http://www.throttlebodys.com/ and you will get a better deal with buying from him directly rather than buying one of his throttle body off of ebay.

Other than the DC sport strut bar, are there any "quality" ones that are still being produced? A lot of the threads about strut braces are from '02 and way back when and after searching around don't seem to have much of a selection...

If yours came without the rear you can pick up GSX rears from the AWD guys pretty regularly for $20-25 you'll have to buy bushings, brackets and links but that's not expensive. HUGE difference in the handling.
before I put mine on every time I went to the track or autoX I'd lift the inside rear tire on the fast turns. After, the car feels way more stuck to the ground.

Hmm, I never really thought of that. Thanks a lot for the suggestion. I would really like to get the most effective suspension mods w/o having to spend some serious cash on a coilover set or something. Will the GSX rear bar need to be rigged or is it pretty straight up as long as i have the necessary hardware, any write-ups?

Also, a friend of mine suggested getting a polyurethane bushing set and replacing my bushings. I'm not too knowledgeable on the topic but if my oem bushings were wearing out would replacing them make a noticeable difference? Once again, i really appreciate the replies this is by far the most helpful forum I have joined.

The GSX sway is super easy, I know there used to be a writeup on here but I don't know if it made it to the new wiki.
go to mitsu and buy the brackets for the bushings, bushings and the end links. all the mounting locations are there. you'll need the hardware too.
lift the car and start attaching, a basic tap set might help if the bolt holes on the cross member have a ton of crud in them (mine did)
**Edit: just noticed the poly bushing question. Poly bushings are freaking awesome for improving the feel and response of the car, it's not the easiest install job since you have to take apart most of the suspension to do the job. the car will have to be completely realigned front and back. also some of the old bushings are a BITCH to remove. you might want to get a propane torch and just burn them out. (get a good mask, you don't want to breathe that crap)

I know this is in the engine section but i just had another quick question; Are the brands Pilot or Vibrant reputable part manufacturers? I found strut bars from both of these companies and they "look" pretty legit, just curious if anyone has had any experience. Also, anybody know if i can get an OEM rear sway from a gsx anywhere?

The rear sway bar dont HAVE to be from a GSX. You could also use a bar from a GS or GST. Even 95-00 Dodge Avenger and Chrysler Sebring Coupe. They have the same exact bar on them as well.
If your car don't have a rear sway bar, you will also need the rear control arms that have the sway bar endlink mounts on them. Again, the rear control arms are the same on an Avenger or Sebring as well.
