1999 Mitsu Eclipse Spyder GS 2.4L 5 Spd manual, Normally aspirated w- no mods ~ Speedometer/Odometer quit today. Intermittently engages, but inaccurately. Clutch kit + slave&master cylinders R&R'ed 'bout a 1,000 miles ago. No other symptoms with this new speedo-quit problem... yet. But... will speedo failure affect ECU? Where are the speed sensors for manual trans & how do I get at 'em? Any speedometer/odometer diagnostics, info sources, location clues or diagrams appreciated.

From previous posts I'm thinking speed sensor ring gear. Thanks to the Dark One (and others) found a diagram, but any other info would be good 'cuz I b a novice.
Still haven't found that pesky little plastic white rear window regulator bushing/roller... Leads?
Cheers to the info gained via this forum.

it should be electrical, but IIRC, their ring gear is machined into the diff, not plastic like ours.
Check the link in my sig, and look in the Tech info Manual for the spyder speed sensor setup. i believe it's just like the FWD turbo cars, so you probably just have a dying/dead speed sensor. It's probably on the back of the trans, on the diff housing, similarly located to ours.

Thanks Eric!
It's AZ2gnt.net instead of .com
381 page PDF... Great resource for 420A and 4G63 owners, but I don't believe it covers my 4G64. Did use it to find a picture of the vehicle speed sensor, sensor location on tranny, and an exploded diagram of the elec. speedometer which was great... so again thanks. Here's the URL for ne1 else interested...

Opps! Sorry 'bout the misspelled name. You'd think if a person answers the question or points to the source info, I'd be able to spell their four letter name correctly. Ugh! should have went with STIG.

Ronin or Erik works, glad I could help.
the Stig thing is just cause I found the pic and it made me laugh.
you might want to go into your profile and edit your sig so that you don't have to add it in every time you post.
