#108824, "engine sputters at or above 2500rpm"

Ok I am trading my awd turbo tomorrow morning for a 2g n/t, I went down and change the clutch in this car and was told that was all that was wrong. I took it for a drive and it sputtered really bad, so I told him no deal cause my car runs like a top and is modded. It would get so bad I could put the pedal to the floor and the rpm would not be affected and would stay low(max 2000rpm) It would also climb super slow. So I went home his dad and he went over the car and found bad plugs 2 of 4, so they changed 2 of the(no idea why not 4) and the plug wires. That didn't fix the problem fully so they pulled the fuel filter, inside was black/brown fuel so thinking that was it they changed it. Now the problem thats still there is you can't go above 2500rpm or it will start to bog, It also has 2 cell codes 12 Airflow sensor, 36 Ignition timing adjustment signal (1.8L, 91-up). Please help me cause I have givin my word on this trade as long as thats all thats wrong and I really hope it isn't anything to bad.

Take a look at the harness running by the drivers side of the engine, it may have dropped down onto the EGR pipe and melted causing a short. by those 2 codes at the same time that would be my guess.
