Okay, after rebuilding to 10.5:1 and crower 2's my exhaust note has taken a turn for the worse. I have a DC Sports 4-2-1 header, test pipe and a magnaflow 2.25" catback. The magnaflow used to sound really nice, but after the rebuild, it sounds like a coffee can and I am about to kill myself I was wondering if I should just replace the muffler or get a bigger size catback, like 2.5 or 3". I want something that doesn't sound ricey at all, hell at this point, no sound would be nice. Anyone have suggestions? How about you mark, what size exhaust are you running? TIA.

well it all depends really.. are you running turbo? and if so id say a 3 inch cat back, and if your N/T id say stay with the 2.25... mabey get a resinator or a cherrybomb class pack would work to, that would probably make it sound a little better for only 20 bucks or so. but i doubt its the muffler itself mabey u have a leak somewhere thats making it sound that way.. just my 2 cents good luc

Well, I'm all motor. Like I said, it sounded good before my rebuild, but upping the compression and all the intake things I have done has changed how it sounds, it's all just flowing different now. I was just wondering if someone had bought a catback that they didn't like the sound of and just bought a muffler that sounded good. I might have to just get a glass pack. Thanks for the input though. Anyone elses thoughts?

Add a resonator or even a second muffler in-line. Going to a larger diameter pipe will just add to the noise, and I wouldn't recommend it unless you feel you need a larger exhaust for some reason.

Go back to stock cat or high flow cat.. all that test pipe is doing is making ur exhaust raspy.. and if that dosent work get a glass pack and use it as a resinator that should tune er right up.

since you just stuffed the engine back in I would double and triple check for exhaust leaks since this was the biggest change .
higher compression does cause a little extra noise and you don't have a cat to help absorb any of it, so you may just be producing more sound than the magnaflow can muffle. once you've completely eliminated leaks as your primary cause of noise then I'd look at adding a resonater or cherry bomb style muffler back into the system before the magnaflow
