#107739, "Rebuilding the head"

I am building a motor to drop in my car. I am working on the head right now. I plan on replacing the valve stem seals and the valves. The head isin't warped any. How much work needs to be done to this head? Im going to clean it up good, but do I need to take it to get the valves seats resurfaced?

Well...are you doing a performance build? I would get the valve seats redone for performace reasons but if you aren't doing a performance build to it and the surfaces are good you should be fine. I would get the head resurfaced and checked for flatness just to be safe though.

The bottom end will be built but the head is going to be stock. I guess I will take it in to have the valve seats resurfaced.

imo... if ur already rebuilding it, do it right the first time. it will prevent the possibility of re-work at a later date. might as well replace the valve guides also while ur at it.whats ur reasoning for keping the head stock? a light port and polish will give u more power and better gas mileage as well. if u need someone to do that for u at a nominal cost, hit me up.

The head and intake is getting ported and polished a little bit. When I meant stock I meant that its going to have stock springs, cams, and valves.
