I got the P0171 code and am stuck. I replaced map sensor and 02 sensor(98 talon oe style with plug) and still nothing. My a/f gauge is stuck on lean so the ecu is dumping extra fuel which is in the 10's on my wideband 02 sensor. Some values i got are here, i dont know to much about the what the values should be so any help would be appreciated. I tried searching already but have tried everything.
(IDLE)
STFT 24.2
LTFT 24.2
TPS 13% at idle
Map Kpa 40
IAT 80
Coolant 248 F
021S1V 0.00
02S12V 0.68 at idle
ignition adv 5.0
fuel system 1 Closed
fuel system 2 N/A

(Cruising 52mph 2413rpm)
STFT -6.3
LTFT 24.2
TPS 21.9%
Map Kpa 68
IAT 95
Coolant 248 F
O2S11V 0.53
O2S12V 0.900
Ignition 20.5
fuel system 1 closed
fuel system 2 N/A

(WOT 3848rpm it bogs after this since i am too rich, only got it to 44mph)
STFT 0.0
LTFT 23.4
TPS 71.7%
Map Kpa 102
IAT 95
Coolant 249 F
02S11V 0.39
O2S12V 0.94
ignition 16.5
fuel system 1 closed(but displays open for a second until i let off)
fuel system 2 N/A

All i need to get my car running good is this fuel issue. I have the portfueler, but i disconnected to make sure it wasnt that and i have stock injectors in my primaries. Thanks in advance.

I have researched now and found out what the 2 trims mean, but dont understand why my ltft is in the 24's most of the time and during a wot run, it was 23.4 at 71% tps. Also, is the O2S11 the upstream o2 sensor and the O2S12V the downstream o2 sensor. If so, my upstream stays in the lean and doesnt cycle up or go higher then 0.51.

You have a bad front O2 sensor.

Got a new o2 sensor and still the same. Why is my coolant temp so high? I unplugged it and my wideband reads "rich", but when plugged in it reads 11-12's. I am so lost with this and dont know what to do anymore. Darkone, could you or anyone send me their number and i will call to see if i am missing anything. Thanks. Cam sensor is new, crankshaft sensor is new, map sensor new, o2 sensor new, coilpack good, fairly new spark plugs and stock wires, IAT reading 70-80 so i dont think its that, listened to fuel injectors with flat tip and they are firing good and all sond the same, new fuel injector cleaner. I havent tried a new ecu yet.

The ecu also reads the coolant temperature sensor to determine fuel trim. Sounds like the sensor is shorted or bad and is constantly reading at the highest end of its range.

agreed, coolant sensor/wiring is bad - at 248ish it'd be giving a lot less inj PW, so the ST/LT Trim is maxed tryin to compensate. It's also pulling timing, probably not helping anything. That and you'd probably blow a gasket that hot. if it's a correct reading you got other issues! You don't have the wire tapped for anything else, do you?

I bought a new coolant temp sensor and it reads 160-170 now, but that didnt fix my P0171 code. I have replaced map sensor, o2 sensor(3 times), IAT, coolant temp sensor, and now going to put new fuel filter on tomorrow. So am having no luck either way. My o2 sensor signal wire doesnt cycle up to .8 or .9 and then down, it warms up and goes to .4 at the most at idle. It should cycle and i know its not the sensor since i have replaced them with 3 new ones and the same problem exists. I am tired of this shit, so i have been taking a break from it. After that, all i can check is ecu. I checked leaks, grounds, and everything i can think of. Oh well, i will just have to keep trying when i feel like it. Thanks for the replies.

Then I'd trace back you O2 wiring, otherwise I'd hafta say ECU. Maybe try probing the harness to check if all the wires are gettin what they're supposed to - I believe the Black/red & black/green are 12v+, the black is ground and the white/black is your sender. check the send output compared to the scanner if all the other signals are good. Computer may have it in some kinda limp mode if it doesn't come off .4.

There are two sensors on the water neck. One that the ecu reads which is on top and has two wires, and one which controls the gauge inside the car and only has a single wire. Which did you replace, and did you try resetting the ecu afterwards?

I replaced the sensor for the ecu, not the sensor for the gauge. I have reset the ecu also. Also, i traced the 02 signal wire back and it reads the same voltage as the signal wire at the actual o2 sensor. Thanks for the help, i am gonna try to check it again today to see what i can figure out.
