Alright, this is Corivus's friend Troy. I was fiddling and have noticed that the accessory lights come on with the key in the ignition but when I turn on the headlights everything goes real dim, the headlights are very low as well. Also, we were hearing a buzzing noise, turns out its the accessories beeper with too low of juice to actually beep, so it justs growls at you lol. We checked the fuses, they all seemed fine but I'm checking them again to make sure.
I cleaned the connections for the battery terminal to make sure there wasn't any resistance from corrosion or anything like that, and when I was checking the leads I found that the starter's cable has a burnt up red cover! This isn't my car so I don't know if that was already there but it looks to have had some really bad arching to cause that much burn. As well, when the car IS running the positive connection to the battery gets warm, and when corivous drove it home last night the new battery boiled over so there is definitely some resistance or even a short...either from the alternator, starter, or from what someone posted, the ECU.
Oh and go figure, when trying to start the car it wont crank over UNLESS you have the headlights on... so at this point I have no idea what to do and I'm going to retreat to my Nissan (which corivous already killed) and drive home, pick up some more tools, and then check back here to see what you enlightened few post. Thank you
~Troy My car isn't gray, the paint is just fading.
