so im looking to buy a 95 eclipse gs that has a newer engine in it im not sure of the year of the engine(sorry ill find out soon)however it has around 90,000 miles on it. now my question, when ran hard the kid thats selling the car says that it will sputter then shut off after long hard acceleration and will turn over again in a few minuites. does anyone know what the problem could be? some of the things i considered were, the fuel filter being clogged, the fuel pump,the injectors, and someone told me possibly the ecu? any and all help would be appreciated! thanx...

Could be clogged catalytic convertor just choking that engine after it heats up.

Could be a crank sensor going bad, I had a similar problem that ended up being one.

Project 2.4/Big ass turbo now underway....

I'd start with the simple cheap stuff. plugs and wires, if they are old and get too hot sometimes they can seperate inside. any CEL's?
