My Car was smoking and overheating and its leaking radiator fluid like crazy and i don't know what to do. My car has about 169,000 miles and was planning to rebuilt next year but not this i don't got the money. I know there is no fluid coming out of the radiator or any of the hoses also i can see the leak coming out alot from the driver side near the flex pipe. Do you guys think i cracked my engine or just blew a gasket? I really don't know either way i think I am screwed. I see no oil in radiator fluid. I have been up with maintenance. Now my car is sitting in my parking lot for a week haven't had the time to take to a mechanic to get a full analysis(I hate mechanics but i don't know whats really up with the car" . Now what i am still pondering if my engine is screwed would it be more cost effective to get a new used engine or just scrap the car and get a new one??(would like to have a gst or gsx but dont have the pockets right now)

My car did the same thing, except without the leaking. Just lost lots of coolant, and over heated. I also DID NOT have any fluids mixing. It was probably the headgasket. My car also had 169k miles about to hit 170k, so I just said fuck it, and did a stock rebuild. Worked like a charm, and have 66 miles on the new engine, never loved my car more.

Step 1: Calm down.
Step 2: Check for heater hose leaks, they run below the air intake ant attach at the firewall. Check for loose clamps, broken or cracked hose.
Step 3: Fix leaks at heater hose if applicable, if not move on to step 3b.
Step 3b: No leaks at heater hoses check other heater hoses and radiator plumbing for leaks, cracks, holes etc. Fix as required.
Step 4: Check for possible freeze plug failure, simple fix for most depending on location of freeze plug.
Step 5: Things are starting to get worse, possible headgasket failure. Fill radiator and overfill to correct levels, look for external leaks around mating surface of head and block. If no leaks have been noted look for obvious air bubbling in coolant indicating headgasket failure. If it is a headgasket failure the head will need to be removed and a new gasket installed, head warpage should be checked, most likely it will need machining. Also note any problems with excessive head bolt lengths before install fix accordingly.
