Is anyone running a pacesetter header with tsudo catback? How does it sound, I am thinking about this combo for my car.

I know that lots of people don't like pacesetter header but from my searching the only header that seems to get consistently good reviews is the greddy and I can't put that much money into a header. All the other headers seem to be hated as much as pacesetter. If you know of a good header that doesn't cost an arm and leg please post what it is.

Edit: I just realized you were the same guy who posted about the ssautochrome header.

Did you listen to anything i told you in your other thread?

It doesn't mattter. Dont just take my word for it. Do a search. Type TSUDO EXHAUST and PACESETTER HEADER in the SEARCH bar.

It would be way easier to help you if you helped us with a bit more information on what you're trying to accomplish with your car.

Ok, here is what I don't want.

turbo
300 HP
lots of expenses

I want a dependable car for a daily driver that is nice to drive and sounds good for a reasonable price.

The mods that I am planning on doing are a ram air intake, AFX UDP, tsudo n1 catback exhaust( I hear that they are good quality and sound for a good price), testpipe/resonator and I am contemplating a header, not sure if I should get one now that I have looked into them. I am also considering Megasquirt but not for a bit anyways.

The problem is that I have searched to much and there isn't enough information on headers. Too many posts like I don't have one but I hear they are good, I don't have one but they are shit, they are great, they are shit, how can one product be both great and shitty? The only header you hear mainly positives about is the GReddy and a header is not worth that kind of money to me. If there are no good cheap ones I guess I just won't get one.

Get a pacesetter and be done with it. I do believe the fasteset NA DSMer uses one so it can't be bad. NA with all those exhaust mods will open it up a lot more and be pretty loud and almost "ricey" sounding (IMO, especially with a test pipe). Even with all those upgrades, you won't be THAT fast still. If you want some good power for not too much money, look into turbocharging your ride.

If you are looking for a nice tone for DD and aren't looking for power, throw on a stock GST axle-back exhaust and call it a day.

If I were to put a large resonator in place of a testpipe would that make it sound nicer? I don't want it extremely loud.

I do want to get as much power as I can but I don't want to go turbo, build engine etc. I just want to do the most that I can do without having to spend a ton of money. I like my car now, almost completely stock and with a few little mods I think it would be a nice car.

If you dont want it extremely loud, run a silencer.

A header is a header. You can listen to me or listen to everyone else who is watching this thread. It doesn't matter worth a fuck how much you spend on one. They're all about the same. Tubing sizes may be slightly different. Most use 2" ID runners and that's fine. Get one off of ebay. I am and i think i'll write a review too. My stock cast manifold has an ever-growing crack in it i'm probably going to jb weld up today to prolong it's destruction. But yeah, i'll get one just to show you how COST-EFFECTIVE they are. If anything, you'll have a nice show peice under your hood that makes your car sound nice and run a little better for freakin' peanuts. You make it sound like you're playing scratch-off lottery tickets under pressure.

This might help you out with your choice a bit more.

A 4-1 header (all four runners meet into a single merge collector) is good for boosting your upper/midrange torque and power. Great if you want to build a top end N/A car.

A 4-2-1 keeps your powerband more usable for daily driving. Lots of low/midrange gains and no loss in the upper rpm powerband.

You dont want 300hp. You dont want a turbo so you really dont need to worry about things like your fuel system (atleast for a while) or a built bottom end. You can boost up the ignition and maybe play around with adjustable cam gears to get the most out of your bolt-ons. I wouldn't even touch megasquirt if i were you. It'd be a waste of money unless you actually were trying to do something with your car besides make it sound nice and a pubic hair faster. Not trying to be mean by that but that's how you come off.

I am not trying to come across as cheap or whatever you think I am. I am only 19, live on my own, pay for all my expenses and am going to university full time, I want to make the car as nice as I can and stay under a 1,000 for mods and 750 for some rust removal. That is all the money that I can spend on this car for this year.

I plan on

ram air intake $75
AFX UDP $165
Tsudo N1 Catback $270
Pacesetter $225 or ssautochrome $195 or tsudo header $120+shipping
Extra for testpipe/resonator,resister mod to trick rear o2 sensor, header wrap, ss ties, silicone spray, a couple other little things and I will be up to 1,000.

I saw a tsudo header but searching can't find anything on it, I am going to ask seller a few questions about it. If anyone has heard anything about tsudos 2gnt header It would be appreciated to say what you know.

Why would megasquirt be a waste of money? It costs less then a greddy header and would give more power gain unless the little I have read about it is wrong.

It just doesn't seem cost effective for what you're wanting to do with it. These cars require some serious tinkering with to get much out of them. Sure, you can lean out your fuel curves and advance your exhaust cam a notch. You'd have around 125-30whp when all is said and done. You have a pretty hard time understanding that basic bolt-on parts dont mean dick to our engines for the most part. That is what i'm trying to tell you. It's not going to make a difference what header you get. If all you're wanting to do is bolt that stuff on, run megasquirt and say you're done, that's your business. Do what you like. I'm just telling you that it's a waste to use megasquirt on parts that will give you maybe an extra 30-35whp if you're lucky. If that's all you want to do as far as power, just ignore me completely then and enjoy.

Like you said, you're in school, you live on your own and you're budgeted for this year. (are you implying that you're going to pony up in the future?) I'm not the richest guy in the world either which is why i watch my dollars and how i spend them. For all the money you spend on megasquirt,a header, blah, blah....you could be running a stage II turbo kit on a stock bottom end with a minor fuel upgrade for the same price making anywhere between 160-200whp untuned @ 7psi. 200whp might be pushing it but it's been done before with all stock internals. Dunno about you but that'd make a fun daily driver. Dont you think? With the help of a few friends, you can turbo your car in a day. Think i'm joking, check out www.homemadeturbo.com. These guys are building 13 and 14 second hondas out of junkyard parts with can-collecting money. Not saying their work is beautiful but the results speak for themselves. I was pretty inspired by those guys and what they're doing.

This is just from one tightwad eclipse owner to another. I'm trying to help you get the most out of your car without spending a shitload of money under false pretense.

I see what your saying and I already realize that I am not going to make a ton of power with these mods, that is why I want to keep them cheap. One day just to see what it was like I disconnected powersteering and ac and there was a noticeable difference but I cannot live without the powersteering so I plan on removing ac and adding above mentioned parts and I am almost sure that doing this will satisfy my wants/needs for at least a year. As for the megasquirt that is why I said it is a possibility in the future not now. I do not have the tools/know how to build a cheap turbo kit and I need something reliable not something I have to play with every weekend so it runs. I don't think I will ever go turbo with this car, the only thing I might do is megasquirt and 50 shot nitrous possibly next summer, that is as far as I will go, no internals, no turbo. I plan on this being my car for the next 3 years and then I will be out of school, sell it and buy a nicer/faster car.

The biggest thing about when it comes to a header is that I live in Alberta, Canada where the temperature fluxuates from -40 to about 35 degrees celsius, that is -40 to about 100 fahrenheit. We also have snow, salt, constant weather changing etc. The thing I am worried about is getting a cheap header that cracks because of all this. I realize that they all do the same thing when it comes to power etc. I just want one that is going to last more then a couple months.

Dont think you'd have to worry about it. Most are made from a fairly thick gauge of stainless and tig welded by robots.

Trust me when i say you're putting waaaaay too much thought into buying a header. Kinda like how i'm putting way too much energy into trying to help you.....

Well sorry I wasted so much of your time seeing that it was voluntary and everything. It is just from searching I have encountered a lot of posts saying to worry about cracking. I am going to find out more about this tsudo header and either it or pacesetter i guess.

PS You don't need to reply to this seeing that your so busy and everything

I dont have a pacesetter but I do have a tsudo exhaust and a DC header and it sounds decent. I personally don't care about sound though, I care more about performance(im sure you do as well)

Yes I do care about performance, just don't want it to be unbearably loud, very ricey, and I want it to last.

There is that triangle thing with three options that you can only choose two of, cheap, good or fast. I am looking for cheap and good, I could care less if I do it this next month or not, it would be nice though.
