oooh, I bet DR1665 has a bunch of info for this one, I'm personally working towards the turbo route so I don't have too much info.

I know basic mods are intake and exhaust, try to go for the longer runner headers for real power, the ebay ones are short runner 4-1 pieces that aren't that great for real power.

balancing the engine and getting mild cams to help the breathing are a biggie too. a good engine management system helps a ton too, the stock ECM just wants to kill any power after ~5k rpms when you really start making some ponies above and beyond stock, so looking into megasquirt will be to your benefit

MSnS is going to be the best mod to do imo. AFX underdrive pulley, try and find some info on the best header and downpipe, Highflow cat, AEM V2 intake, Modern Performance 60mm throttle body, Crower stage 2 or 3 cams, some headwork, high compression pistons, etc.... The list goes on and on.

Too much to list on here again. You can look at some history posts on build lists from bullettdsm or myself as our setups are almost identical. My problem is I have not been able to keep a transmission under the new found torque long enough to make any real good times in the quarter. But I will then I am gonna boost her cuz that just sounds like tons of fun.

Best bang for the buck (and most important)? MSnS. But as others have pointed out, this is a search topic. There is a ton of info out there that you have to choose based on YOUR intended levels and goals.

Nobody said itb's.

I'm about this close *holds fingers apart a half inch* to saying screw the turbo and having the crew fab up the rig using gsx-r tb's. Hell, B/D/H/K series hondas have been doing them for years. Why not us?

The idea has been tooling around in my head. I've been hitting up google, the neon forums, all motor honda brats...... I searched and searched for an itb eclipse. Didn't matter what year or what engine. I found nothing. Alot of pondering and giving up (turbocharging) was to be found among the dsm forums though. It's almost as if dsmers snub their noses at itb's like it's a honda/neon thing.

I've narrowed it down to High Cr, itb's, MSnS, FPR, Stage 2 or 3 cams and a little bit of this and that. Now i'm doing research on whether or not it's better to run just straight velocity stacks or fab up a plenum.

The fact that nobody has done this bugs the shit out of me. It's not like it would be hard to do at all. Initial setup and tuning might be a pain in the ass. Making sure all the butterflys are lined up right and each cylinder is getting the same amount of air is going to be a small but irritating issue but it's totally doable. Looking at the size of the GSX-R unit and the firewall space, they'd have to be angled but that's not a problem either. Wrx-style hoodscoop... I can feel this rs-t project taking a different direction. I'm thinking about all the headaches turboing a car vs N/A with bolt-ons, port work, simple fuel/ignition tuning and itb's. No oil return to fuck with. No frothing-hot turbo oil running through the motor. No expense paid on a separator/scavenge pump. No boost gauge. No boost controller. No exhaust fabrication of any kind minus a bung for an egt. Still, i'll never get over the sounds a turbocharged car makes and the sheer power numbers at higher levels of tune.

Give a few months and i'll see if I REALLY want to do it. I've got other things going on with the car that need attention first. I'm praying that this 240sx i have my eye on is still for sale after i fix and sell my mom's buick. It's hard to work on my car when i can't leave it torn down for more than a few hours......

Goodnight sweetheart...yes its time to go...bum bum bum bum bum...good night sweetheart yes I am one little a$$hole......bum bum bum bum....

yo ive been thinking of a concept for it myself, and i work for h-d so im kinda in the market as far as resources for parts are concerned. i have an extra manifold so maybe ill do a lil scetchin and c wat it'll take as far as design is concerned. please keep in touch with any ideas you got on it. i hear you on the 2nd car thing too i had to pick up a beater so i could start this winter long n/a project, itb's would be a great thing to add to it

You throw your old ecu in the garbage and use MSnS. Lol. Something like that. Fully programable brain for your engine. It'll do all the tricks you want it to, even play dead if you're not careful.

I've been trying to avoid using something like that but i may just have to. Megasquirt is cheaper than an MSD ICM + SAFC. You can get an "assemble it yourself" unit for 2 to 4 hundred bones, pay somebody another $50-100 to build it and then pay somebody else to program it....unless you want to do all that yourself.

Do a search. ALOT of guys (and gals) on here are using megasquirt and should be able to give you a hand understanding if you still dont get it.

P.S. I've decided. Itb's it is. Screw the turbo...for now. emoji

Goodnight sweetheart...yes its time to go...bum bum bum bum bum...good night sweetheart yes I am one little a$$hole......bum bum bum bum....
